Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre is likely to bring a bill to prevent conversion of religion. Sources have told Zee News that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government may bring the anti-conversion bill in the next session of Parliament.

The sources said that the government has already started preparations for the same and discussion are underway to bring the bill that might prevent any kind of religious conversion.

This comes shortly after the conclusion of the Budget Session of Parliament wherein the government passed key bills like Jammu and Kashmir Re-organisation Bill, which bifurcates the state into two Union Territories – Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, and Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, which criminalises triple talaq.

Both the bills were passed in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha amid uproar by opposition. While the opposition questioned the manner in which Article 370 was abrogated, it opposed the clause of sending husband to jail in cases of triple talaq.

As the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die, Speaker Om Birla and RS Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said that the recent session was one of the best in the history of Parliament.

Terming it as a “golden session for Lok Sabha”, Om Birla had pointed that as many as 35 bills were passed. According to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, “99% government business” was completed during the previous session of Parliament.

The highlights of the Budget session of Parliament were oath taking by elected representatives, election of Om Birla as Lok Sabha Speaker, Motion of Thanks on the President Ram Nath Kovind’s joint address, financial business relating to Union Budget for 2019-20.

The session also witnessed India's first full time woman Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, present her maiden Budget on the floor of the House. The session was slated to end on July 26.

Apart from Jammu and Kashmir Re-organisation and triple talaq bills, Parliament also passed the National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill 2019, which aims at strengthening the central anti-terror agency and empowering its officials.

Would they really go for this?

This would be a fantastic game changer.

Couple this with strictly denying converted SC, BC and other converted reserved people any reservation, would break the back of Evangelists.
In fact these 2 actions would destroy Vatican's plans in India forever.

Denying reservation and jailing anyone committing this fraud after converting would be death knell for conversions.

This will be a far tougher job because it will require constitutional amendment (2/3rd vote in Rajya Sabha will be a problem).

I think they allowed this story out in the press just to give people a feel of what's to come when BJP achieves majority in Rajya Sabha in 2021.

It's also a stern warning to anyone trying to stall/derail Ayodhya. If they can contemplate a conversion ban, they can even exercise Article 300A (eminent domain) and give Ayodhya to the Hindus through an act of Parliament, should the SC chicken-out.

    Probably,
But at this point, I would hesitate to completely discount it.

Come to think of it, they did get 2/3 votes in RS on Article 370 removal.
Now, just for fun if BJP does bring this for discussion, it would be fun to watch a lot of "secular" parties squirming.

Just think what would happen to the parties opposing this move in Hindi heartland and Karnataka.
Just Imagine if KCR and Jagan oppose this....BJP would surely be in pole position to oppose them just on this.

For BJP, just having a discussion on this would be a electoral gold mine,
Not to mention all the positives you have just mentioned.

Cong has taken a huge damage in last few weeks, some of it irreversible.
Just imagine the optics of a Gulam Nabi and Sonia opposing this in Parliament? ;)

You know why muzzie won over Rajput because muzzie were ready to work with Rajput traitors.

Same with the British . They worked with anyone who worked with them .

Similarly to defeat Islam we need to work with different fraction of muzzie and not repeat the mistake of past.

Rajput is not a single entity ... Rajputs aka some 20+ kingdoms were ruling today Rajasthan&surrounding areas. Filthy jihadi mogals till their end not defeated all small kingdoms of Rajputs in one state ''are some how RULED the ENTIRE India'' ... thanks to our sickular syllabus.

These jihadi some-how crossed the Vindhyas, again another ONE state- Maratha's are rised and crushed them.

To defeat that cult: Anyone associate with that desert cult is our enemy... My simple formula.

Nehru-gandi aka British slaves and khangress party did more harm (brainwashing) to Hindus than the jihadi mogals.

That is true. Point is our enemies took advantage of our differences. We should also not see ummah as one entity. Muzzie are deeply violently divided and we should work with anti porky muzzie to deal with porky.

There are already such laws in many states. It doesn't stop conversion but makes it difficult by having to get registration, certificate and hence adds few steps. It doesn't need Constitution amendment

It's much easier. The 2/3 rd majority vote has a rider, it is 2/3 rd of members present and voting. So a member can be absent or a member may be present and may abstain from voting. There could be some quid pro dealing with other parties to make their members skip the voting by either means and maths will do its own magic of numbers. You can never trust the allies in India (JDU) to even vote for national interest. Every bill will have its own arrangements till BP achieves RS majority. Uske baad Supreme Court and Opposition KMKB.
