No sir it is totally impossible that IAF has not considered the possibility of a Mirage 2000 crash happening embarrassing it would be just IMAGINE
You cant sign any contract assuming that your fighter will crash the next day!

............................. Flame attempt..

Oh. Were's Armand...? But quick thinking from the pilots.
Why should that concern me? As long as it isn't a French Rafale, I don't particularly care as long as the pilot is safe. It isn't a suprise considering the dilapidated state of the M2000H fleet. They were talking about having to ground it if the upgrade didn't go through.

No sir it is totally impossible that IAF has not considered the possibility of a Mirage 2000 crash happening

This 51 aircraft order is a FIRM contract which has been SIGNED and SEALED

So do you want to say that tomorrow we will tell the French

" Hey we have LOST a few planes , So your contract is terminated and we cant pay you any more
because We dont have 51 planes "

How embarrassing it would be just IMAGINE !!!

Fortunately we DO NOT have SUCH tight budgets any more

And losses and crashes are a Normal feature of every plane and every airforce
We ordered 59. 9 have crashed till date. Contract needn't be discontinued. The contract will continue for 50 now. Any future crashes will be taken into account.

Last time when we were about to buy 10 Mirage 2000H fighters, 2-3 birds crashed and entire mirage fighters grounded..

This time before Rafale.. something is not right..

hope no more crashes this time..

Air Marshal Punches Out Of Doomed Mirage

He's the seniormost Indian Air Force officer ever to eject. Air Marshal Anil Chopra, currently Air Officer in charge of Personnel (AOP) at IAF HQ punched out of a Dassault Mirage 2000TH operational trainer over Central India just after noon. Air Marshal Chopra, Commodore Commandant of 1 Squadron Tigers was in Gwalior for a reunion of the elite Mirage unit and a tour of the base. A passionate fighter pilot, Air Marshal Chopra doesn't get to fly as often as he'd like. and is one of only a few senior officers who still flies when he gets a chance.

On Friday, he flew front cockpit with Tigers squadron commander Wing Commander Ram Kumar. Over Bhind, an area replete with ravines, the aircraft's Snecma M53 flamed out. After a series of relight attempts failed, the pilots initiated ejection procedures and bailed out. They were picked up by a SAR helicopter shortly thereafter and transferred to the military hospital in Gwalior. Both are safe and in good health.

Air Marshal Chopra has commanded the Tigers squadron and was part of the crew that ferried the first Mirages to India from France in the mid-1980s. He was posted in Russia during the MiG-21 upgrade programme and has commanded the Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) in Bangalore. Before picking up the three-star rank, he was Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Jammu & Kashmir at Udhampur, overseeing military air ops in that theater.

Oh good, it was just a TH trainer. No big loss there as it wasn't going to get upgraded.

An IAF Mirage 2000 crashed near Jaipur in Western India today. This is the second Mirage to go down since a Mirage 2000TH crashed in Bhind, MP on Feb 25. The pilot(s) in today's crash ejected safely.

You don't get no refunds just because you crash the planes.

But Armand dear we have NOT paid the entire 2 billion dollars so far

So how come we would ask for refunds

Infact on the contrary the number of planes in the Rafale tender would be immediately hiked
so as to cover for the possibility that IAF will NOT be able to PRESENT 51 Mirages for upgradation

IAF has to buy second hand Mirages from somewhere. It can't wait for Rafale.

The entire fleet will have to be grounded and Dassault experts will be requested to come to India
for advice and help

Some thing is terribly wrong

We knew the problem years ago. The fleet was under threat of grounding if the upgrade wasn't signed. It appears the lack of maintenance is even worse than reported.
