well weapons need to clean and properly maintained that is what army and para military soldiers should do in their free time. If you dont do it then weapon will not work properly when you require it most.
Have you ever seen Delhi Cops on VIP duties? They don't know how to handle weapons.

As they say, History is written by the victors.

All other versions are erased from history.

Or as the famous quote in Battlefield 3 goes: America was founded by terrorists, for terrorists and of the terrorists. The victors get to choose their place in history.
That is right history is written by the victors.

However, as time goes by, more research is done. Private papers are researched and they reveal many things that were not brought out by those who wrote history.

One thing one has to give it to the British is their sense of history. Like the works of Tod on the Rajputs or Lawrence on the Kashmiris or Moorrecroft also on Kashmiris of Younghusband. They maintained diaries and these diaries were preserved by their descendants and then archived.

Unlike what is written of Lord Wellesley, the private papers of many to include General Palmer, Russel, Kirkpatrick gives an insight how many British (mostly those who married Indian ladies) found Wellesley an arrogant racist, self opinionated and a disaster that ruined the comforting ambivalence with the Indian native states and with the Indian gentry. Wellesley's imperialistic attitude caused great woes to the British when they took on the Marathas.

Therefore, with the new research, history can be addressed more close to reality of those times,

So I met him again last night over dinner. I inquired about his fellow officer who was shot in the spine. The bullet which was lodged in L3 has been removed. Many nerves have been damaged. He continues to be in a state of paralysis waist down. Doctors say a second operation will have to be performed to say if be will get well and walk again. The guy is 33 years old. His wife is heavily pregnant. I hope and pray he gets well.

The BMPs sent there are is a state of disrepair. Batteries don't work and fresh supplies are not coming in. Reason? Procurement policy. A vendor in charge of shipments raised prices by 4 times. When fresh tenders were called, the only one to meet the guidelines was the previous vendor who raised prices. No supplies have moved in for over a year now. We send our boys to risk their lives in a God forsaken country and we can't get supplies going in.

Procurement policy needs reform or procurement officers need to be replaced.
