Amit those who are fighting there also donot represent whole Manipur. There are many common people suffering due to them. we send Indian soilders for peacekeeping missions across the globe but cannot solve humanitarian crisis in our own country. for how long we can allow states within the state. we must take tough decisions if there is any collateral damage let it be for greater causxe.
Government of India is scared of breaking the ceasefire with the Naga groups, and that's the reason behind the deafening silence. I also believe that political parties in the state are enjoying the show and will use it against the current state government.

I am shocked at the neglect of the GoI to break the bandh and ensure that supplies reach.

But then, is it a way to 'teach' them that AFSPA cannot be removed to ensure smooth governance in Manipur?

The problem is that the GoI has used money to buy 'power groups' in the NE and not done a sausage to care about the people as such.

And there is a large influx of Bangladeshis there and nothing is being done about it!

Least GOI can do is to give security cover to trucks carrying common and essential goods or they can airdrop them to help common people. Also how long we will be held hostage because our government is scared and s\don ot have balls to do what it should to protect the interest of country.

Instead of developing the region so that the people rally behind the govt, how can we bomb them, our own people? It's the apathy that has cost them so many years. They too need a good life.

The state of manipur has been captured or hijacked by the Militant and politician nexus

Home secy GK Pillai has clearly asserted that essential supplies are being deliberately
black marketed and hoarded to give a bad name to the union government

In Manipur there is complete nexus between the militant groups who have 25000 armed members
and the the government

The army and AFSPA has already been withdrawn from Imphal city

SInce then the situation has only got worse

The population is divided into a number of tribes and each tribe is fighting the other for supremacy

SO it is an internal power struggle which has come to the fore

The separatist struggle has receded in the background

Army and AFSFA are just blamed by the militants for their own convenience and to hide their Extortion and
other criminal activities

they are not heard of. the blockade in north east by the insurgent groups is creating a wreck havoc. petrol is sold for 150 a litre and lpg cylinder for 1000. this fuels anti govt protests. for all these years north east is completely ignored. now when Indian govt appointed the trained interlocutors and negotiators to sort out the border tension between assam and nagaland the comments and feedback by the nagas are " we are listened for the first time, british didnt listened followed by Indian govt.

I was talking about bombing those forests where Insurgents take shelter, instead of buying peace with them. They must be eliminated, at all cost and then we can start the development work. Insurgents don't live amongst natives, they have got camps, and we need to eliminate them.

Saar the term scorched earth is what was the key.
We are fighting the insurgents wherever they are. The method is the key. The other day I read an article on COIN posted by Ray. It shows how India's policy is actually good.

All insurgency, militant and terrorist groups are formed by raising the personal sentiments among the young faces of the society. All the young people are ignorant and also arrogant at the same time. They are recruited at a very early age say 15 to 19 years. At this time a human brain is in its pre- maturing stage. It starts developing at this stage. This is the time when a human brain is capable of learning and doing something which is unthinkable. When they start training at this stage, later on they become a great force. We have to take notice of the society and encourage the youth to get good education and train them properly and mold there brains in a proper way. Just by killing a terrorist or the entire group of people we cannot stop terrorism. In fact it increases such kind of recruiting in a large number, because when we kill we provoke the society. If killing is the only way then the entire human race will end. We have to try and change the mind-set of the people. When the politicians are involved in big scams and a huge amount of public money is being eaten up by these idiotic politicians, how do you expect the people to react. The poor people are not getting the basic needs to survive on this earth. They are being cheated always. So, they join the terror groups to take revenge on this politicians.

Home secy was saying dont blame the union government when it is all an orchestrated drama

Both militants and the manipuri politicians are involved in this loot

Central govt CANNOT intervene in case of hoarding and blackmarketing

Read the Constitution before getting angry :frusty:

Central government can only intervene in case of a breakdown of law and order

You are just repeating the script of " victimhood "given by the militants and their associates in power

In NE militancy is a source of milking the GOI

GOI has been splurging money for the last several years

But a large part of it is siphoned off by these crooks and some part is INVESTED in militancy
Then when paramilitary and army has to be deployed they all become
BECHARAS ie play as helpless and innocent victims

Militancy in Manipur ,Nagaland and Assam is just a bloody business

To keep the people poor and backward and TELL that Delhi is the villain so let us fight for freedom

A real concerted action needs to be taken to actually develop that part of India. Even one gigantic business city on the same scale as, say, Bangalore or Hyderabad, will revitalize the entire region, and militancy/insurgency will be a thing of the past within a few years. Let that city be established in any of the states - it will have an immensely positive impact on the entire 7 sisters region. The GoI, in conjunction with the state governments there, needs to keep this as the no. 1 priority for the next few years. Provide subsidies, sops and incentives for industries and companies to set up shop there. The way Bangalore gave tax benefits to IT companies here. Industry and services should be encouraged to move to the region, and the lions share in the next round of central investment should go to those regions for establishment of colleges, universities and public sector orgs.

Every thing has been tried Mate

The private sector will not come unless there is law and order and the EXTORTIONISTS who take money
from even small individual businesses,Truck drivers and Government employees will not spare a big investor

Then development is totally dependent on the state government's initiatives
AND above all Public pressure

Therefore you have Mizoram, and Tripura BOTH earlier affected by
militancy , NOW on the Path of development
Even large parts of Assam have returned to Normalcy

Arunachal Meghalaya and Sikkim were never a problem

Only these two nut cases are left Manipur and Nagaland

Central govt has placed all NE states on the SPECIAL states list and 100 % development finance is given

But there has to a will for progress

Word of wisdom. I have talked about these points, here are a few driving forces behind the unrest in NE and other parts of India:
a) Tribalism: which resists any attempt to assimilation into the mainstream. Insurgent groups aren't only fighting the government forces, they are also fighting against each other.
b) Money Factor: Insurgency has become a business in India. Kashmiri separatists are living lavish life while youth is losing life on their calls for strike and strife. Maoists have turned out to be nothing more than jungle mafia, they destroy roads, schools and telecommunication to maintain their hold over their "Liberated Zones". NE insurgent groups maintain paid cadre, and their top leadership is busy making lot of money through extortion.
c) Religion: Involvement of Christian groups cannot be denied in NE violence. Maoists have also been infested with Chiristian groups (take Orissa for an example). Kashmiri insurgents adopted the tactics previously used by the Khalistani groups in Punjab, kill, threaten and drive out all Hindus from the effected zones to gain a demographic advantage.
d) External Factor: ISI and CIA have played active role in creating, financing and supporting the violence in NE. Their activities need to be curbed by hook or by crook.
e) Internal Factor: Local politicians are taking advantage of the situation, they are using their show of loyalty towards India to fill their bank accounts. Most of the money given by the Central Government for development ends inside their pockets, and nobody ever asks any question.
