Recruitment into terrorism was never a problem in Pakistan.

Drones are just an excuse for them. Most of the drones were anyway flying flying in from their own bases. They could have at least shut them off from their territory but the lure of dollars was much more. Also they know deep down that they need the drones to cull the number of terrorists, who otherwise have started to bite the hand that feeds them.

What she is saying is a popular, short sighted and Paki army/ Govt. style half truth. The drone argument is flawed for several reasons:

1. That area was a terrorist hub before the drone strikes began. All arguments that blame drones solely for terrorism is invalid.

2. Let us say that NWFP can natively produce 100 terrorists in a month. A monthly drone strike kills 50 of them. Now these drone strikes lead to creating 25 more terrorists. And let the innocent civilians dead be 10. So the count stands at: 25 terrorists dead and 10 innocents dead and 0 US soldiers dead.

There are two option when you don't go the drone route:

1. Boots on the ground: Let the terrorist being produced be 100 again. Now let the US forces in a long and bloody operation kill 40 of those in a month. Now let for each 10 of a terrorist casualty there be a US soldier dead. And let us assume that again 10 civilians are killed in crossfire which produces 25 new terrorists again. Now the count stands at 15 terrorists dead, 4 US personnel dead and 10 civilians dead. If the probability of a terrorist recruit to be successfully able to execute a suicide bombing be 1/100 and the casualties of each bombing be 50. Then by going this option we have a 1/10 higher probability of 50 innocent people dying in a suicide bombing attack.

2.This is probably the option that Malala and PA/ISI prefers: US provides money and weapons to PA. PA conducts a faux operation in NWFP to flush out terrorists. Then uses the money to create more terrorists to be used against India and establish a Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Pakistan gets to be the hero of the world with absolutely zero results in the WoT. The Gernails get rich in the process.

Malala could plead naivety, however the rest of the world would be foolish to decide its war strategy based on the opinion of an impressionable 16 year old.

People seem to be missing the point here. One of the main reasons for the superficial whining from the Paki's regarding Drones is to get the access to the sensitive Drone technology and use it against India. The collateral damage from the predators is minimal as compared to the F-16's used by PAF. Drone strikes are actually beneficial for the general populace since it is eliminating the Taliban(does not matter whether good or bad) and there are no. of farticles corroborating this point. Also, Talibunnies are helpless against this low cost precise weapon.

The Kashmiri separatists in a similar fashion cry about the IA's presence forgetting conveniently the main reason why
IA was sent there.

I am not talking of an all out war here. Minor border skirmishes and provocations can always happen with our govt. policy of uninterrupted and uninterruptible dialogue as we have seen in the last six months. The main issue is of Paki's gaining access to sensitive technology and passing it to Chinese who will proliferate it.
