Major Suggestion for future Defence Exhibitions n' DFI presence @ them

So, @Neilay and I attended the Vijay Divas celebrations at Dadar's Shivaji Park last weekend. And while we got the opportunity to interact with a few (Armoured Corps) personnel and introduce the site to them, one thing we found sorely lacking was a card or token we could leave to remind them of the site. Let's face it, the site's name isn't exactly short, and since many of them expressed interest, we wondered how many of them would actually remember the site given no memory aid or carryable convenience. We also wondered at the possibility of how many more we could have reached out to, if we had had such a token convenience. Some of the servicemen we introduced the site to, we found, were also naturally suspicious given that we had nothing on hand to prove our credentials.

So, I'm wondering if it makes sense for us to print an "official DFI card", something low-cost that gives basic information about what the site stands for, alongwith the site URL and a few terms and conditions of use, that we could take and distribute at defence exhibitions to serving personnel. The potential for such a gain in membership is huge. We felt that many of the middle-ranking servicemen we spoke to felt that they genuinely lacked a voice and had strong opinions about a variety of issues. To get a few more active armed forces personnel to share their views here, would only benefit our cause.

Three cheers to Rage and Neil. I been wanted to express this idea to DFI from a long time.

I tried to introduce some military personals to DFI, but i couldn't figure out from where to start.

Military enthusiast are very imp for a forum, Making more military personals realise to these online forums is very crucial.

We can also make provision for paid membership & paid members shall be issued a kind of Identity card subject to their proper credentials like citizenship proof, profession, etc.

We also have a premium platform for that - the IDSA frontpage os this site, where our strategy and policy articles appear.
Need is to bring people who have strong knowledge base and experience. That is needed to write quality papers.

DFI is also missing a logo fit for a defence forum.That wheel doesn't convey that military forum feeling rather looks more like a khadi store logo.

How about DFI bottons and baseball caps.

Great idea @Rage.

I think this is easily implementable. We can print 2K DFI cards and mail 100 or so cards to those visting the defence related exhibitions or celebrations to distribute to the military and defence professionals. Will take it up with the staff and come up with a practical solution soon.

An Ashok Chakra for a logo is just fine, in my humble opinion. What DFI needs is merchandise perhaps. Produce a small number and you can give them away to defence personnel. Doesn't always have to be T-Shirts or Mugs, a badge, a keyring could do the job as well. Also, there needs to be an official DFI store where people could buy from. But not necesssarily go overboard with the whole idea, then focus may shift away to business rather than the site itself.

The brand image of DFI should relate to something Defense+Nation.

But Sir, isn't that the Ashok Stambha? The chakra is used in a lot of places. Furthermore, one may not draw 24 spokes, wheel can be drawn in a subtly different fashion. That shouldn't pose a problem, would it?

problem with Ashok Stambha only, any modification would do. like writing DFI or something in between.
