Madrassa teacher in Faizabad arrested for sodomising student India - 23 March 2011 FAIZABAD: A teacher at a local madrassa (seminary) here has been arrested for allegedly sodomising a 13-year-old student and holding him captive for three days, police said on Wednesday. According to the complaint filed by locals and students of the institution, Hafiz Saqib Khan (30), a teacher at Madrassa Islamia Ahle Sunnat in Inayatnagar area, kidnapped the Class 3 boy and sodomised him for three days, SHO Akhilesh Pandey said. "Locals along with some other students of the madrassa have lodged complaint against Hafiz Saqib Khan... Acting on the compliant, we carried out a preliminary inquiry following which the teacher was arrested," he said. The incident came into light last evening when the victim escaped from the teacher's room and informed his ordeal to some locals and other students of madrassa. "A detailed inquiry is under way to check if other students in the seminary were also being harassed by the teacher," Pandey said. Khan was working in the institution for two months. Madrassa staff and teachers were being interrogated by the police and they refused to comment on the incident. Source: Press Trust of India
