"Disclosure" super power India's flagship Project 15A

With 16 anti-ship cruise missile BrahMos supersonic, super Project 15A Kolkata class ships of the Indian Navy will make China to hedge.

Chinese media recently reported that, after 10 years start making plans plays three stealth frigates Project 15A Kolkata class of India is nearing completion.
Train Project 15A Kolkata class destroyers are equipped with powerful weapons and attack capability comprehensive defense.
About resistant surface targets, the ship is equipped with vertical launch system firing anti-ship cruise missiles, supersonic BrahMos PJ-10 and 48 medium-range missile interceptors Barak-8 missiles with a range of 70km.
In particular, the BrahMos is the world expert evaluation is one of the anti-aircraft weapon most feared in the world. BrahMos project is development cooperation between Russia and India-based anti-ship missiles P-800 Oniks.
The missile weighs 3 tons, 8.4 m long, 0.6 m diameter, equipped with 2 propulsion (engine starting speed solid fuel and liquid fuel ramjet engine). The most dangerous thing of BrahMos is its speed reaches Mach 2.8-3 (2.8-3 times than the speed of sound), a range of about 300km, the last phase can fly 3-4m above sea level . With the worst speed, accuracy almost absolute, BrahMos is "interception intractable problem" with vessels of water in the world.

On the main air defense systems on Kolkata Project 15 - Barak 8 is a joint project between India and Israel in order to create weapons to destroy airborne targets including aircraft, anti-ship missiles and surface water UAV.
Barak 8 missile storey structure with 2 propulsion, the overall weight of 275kg, 4,5 m long, 0.54 m diameter, weighs 60kg warhead assembly. Barak 8 achieved a range of 70km, 16km altitude target killing, Mach 2 speed. A special feature in the Barak 8 system is the ability to attack multiple targets at the same time kill, bullets first missile equipped with active radar self leads to the ability to "fire and forget".

In addition to two major weapon systems, the Project 15A Kolkata are equipped with 130mm naval guns, anti-aircraft artillery systems AK-630 high-speed, torpedoes and anti-submarine rockets.
In electronic systems, Project 15A Kolkata super carrier is equipped with active phased array radar versatile EL/M-2248 (Israel fabrication) can quickly detect targets in cluttered environments, and complex environment the heavy jamming.
Radar operating in S-band, detecting high-flying targets at a distance of 250 km away and the low flying targets such as cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, surface at a distance of 25km. The structure is similar to radar EL/M-2248 AN/SPY-1 radar for the Aegis combat system of the United States.

In addition, the vessel is equipped with a wide range reconnaissance systems, advanced monitoring other nations by the world's leading manufacturers, including combat management system EMCCA Mk4; radar surveillance and control objectives and warning missile threat from EL/M-2238; submarine reconnaissance system BEL Nagin, electronic warfare systems Deseaver by Elbit Systems of Israel MK II production.

Kolkata class destroyers Project 15A 163m in length, 17.4 m wide, stretch of water between 6,000-7,000 tons full load. All the major weapons systems are designed vessels inside the hull for increased radar stealth capabilities before enemy. Two exhaust pipe of the engine are arranged far apart to reduce the infrared revealed.
Tau is the antenna arrangement similar tower destroyer Type 45 air defense of the UK, but lower antenna mast. The top of the antenna tower radar network EL/M-2248 active electronically. In addition, there aft flight deck and hangar space for two helicopters specialized anti-submarine missions.

Project 15A propulsion system using combined turbine - gas turbine COGAG includes: 2 M36E gas turbine engine with a capacity of 64,000 per horsepower. Combined with four gas turbine engines DT59. Drivetrain 2nd gear RG-54 and 2 diesel generator capacity 9,900 horsepower.
This propulsion system provides a maximum speed of 30 knots / h (equivalent to 56km / h). Range of destroyers has not been announced, but according to the judgment of military experts cruise ships have reserves of about 5,000-6,000 miles.

The rate at which IN is expanding we need Karwar and another big base in west and two in the eastern sea board away from civil port and ships. Hopefully one at Andaman and Nicobars for the third fleet.

That old Gentle man was able to take Hi Res pics of many of our ships while in Mumbai.

The Navy is there to save the City, but is left unguarded.

High time to move the NAval assets from Mumbai to some more secluded place.
Stop being paranoid.

Stop being paranoid.
Can You explain the Sabotage angle in sinking of INS sindhu Rakshak.

Also See the pictures He has posted. IN is not giving out the pictures of Kolkata Class Destroyers. Neither MDL is doing that. But the pictures of such High Value Naval Assets are being shot by tourists onboard of cruise ships!! How do you expect spies not to take detailed pictures.

Paranoia or not, the guy managed to get snapshots of a lot of our front-line warships. Besides the museum ship INS Vikrant, 2 Delhi class DDG, a Kolkata class DDG, 3 Talwar class FFG, 2 subs, 2-3 Godavari class frigate, a tarantul corvette are easily identifiable.

It's a ship. Any information that can be gathered from the outside can be accessed from Wikipedia. There are so few pictures in public domain not because there is uber secrecy around the project, rather the PR departments are lazy. Go to Nausena Bharti and look at the ultra high resolution pictures navy has uploaded of its frontline ships.

Yes correct. But my point is on the defence lapse that can occur in Mumbai Harbor. Those ships that are anchored off Mumbai are susceptible to sabotage. See the crowding over there. We should reconsider ancoring High Value assets in Mumbai harbor. Rather we can have replenishment posts in Mumbai and just supply the patrols.

Mumbai is no New York. Mumbai is jus at calling distance from Karachi and Any terrorist attack cannot be ruled out.

See the below Google earth image of Rosyth Naval Dock Yard in GB.

See the below Google earth image of the Mumbai Naval Yard.

The level of congestion in Mumbai will eventually turn into a Bottleneck for Navy.
