I wholly agree that MRCA 2.0 is farce acquisition, the French won't have any problem building another 36-72 aircraft with an increasing amount of TOT (I doubt we'd get full tot without breaking the bank) but local assembly isn't a big deal.

Russians are our ally, i do agree that. But they are not offering much to us these days, especially when comes to airforce. Can you disagree on that? They sold su35s to china and offered su57 too. If reports are true, tgey are ready to sell SU35s to pakistan also.
We should pressurise USA on F15ex under mmrca with significant tot. And rafale should be in staged procurement.
You are very childish.. Anyway will you pay for your sabji bhaji like shopping spree for F-15 ?

USA or Russia both are arms manufacturer and they will sell their product to those who will buy it. What Russia offers to us no one will do that.. and we aren't buying any other jet from them and they know it. So they have right to sell their products and make money.

Pakistan doesn't have money to buy anything.. else even French would have sold them Rafale or Eurofighter from Uk/Italy Gang .

The Question is whether we can become the best... Within our limited resources.

Rafale is the only option among western fighter plan as french can be trusted with dollars... Or Euro .

We already need lot of money to upgrade Sukhoi pay for Tejas and Rafale... And then AMCA project ... There is not much left for another type..

To make up no.s old mig 29/Mirage might be bought and jaguars etc be used for longer time that's what IAF will do.

With new platforms like Rafale and Tejas mk1a coming up with meteor and Derby ER like missiles we will have BVR edge in the region and numerical strength will rise every year.. with minimum 24 jets getting inducted every year..

TOT is overhyped no one gets full TOT . Infact the assembly line won't do justice unless.the order is 120+ . IN + IAF combine can give that number . Better we learn to overhaul and repair Rafale in India along with manufacturing those parts which are needed on a regular basis.

If we can get our engine working fine after this deal that is more than enough than full TOT farce...

Coronavirus may hit Rafale fighter jets

delivery Published March 13, 2020 | By admin SOURCE: THE WEEK The ministry of defence is struggling to finalise the date for induction of the first four Rafale jets amid speculations of delayed delivery of fighter jets from France due to coronavirus threat. Though Defence Minister Rajnath Singh last week claimed that the first four Rafale jets would land in India in the last week of May, the Air Force headquarters is yet to get confirmation from the French officials. Indian government on Wednesday suspended all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/international organisations till April 15. “As of now, no date has been finalised for the induction of Rafale jets into the IAF. We are yet to hear from Dassault Aviation about exact delivery date of the fighter jets,” an official based in South Block, which houses the ministry of defence, said. Ambala Air Force station, which will be home to the first four Rafale jets, is getting ready itself for the induction ceremony. Infrastructure facilities, including hanger bays, have been created in Ambala for the first squadron of Rafale jets named as 17 Squadron or the Golden Arrows. The second squadron of Rafale will be stationed at Hasimara base in West Bengal to counter the Chinese threat. Due to travel restrictions, advance liaison team from France may also face some difficulty to come to India to make way for the induction. France is the second most-affected European nation by the coronavirus as infected cases in the country have reached 2,284, while death toll got close to 50. Several cities of France, including Bordeaux—close to Rafale jet fighter assembly line in Merignac— have reported coronavirus-positive cases. At the moment, Indian pilots along with crew and technical team of the IAF are undergoing training in France. Besides, a Project Management Team of the IAF is already camping in France to oversea the manufacturing of fighter jets for India. Nearly 50 people including 24 Indian pilots will be trained in three different batches till May 2020. The first of the four jets will also have the tail no RB-01. As the then deputy chief of the air staff, now air chief R.K.S. Bhadauria was instrumental in the Rafale fighter jet negotiations with the French government and Dassault Aviation and due to his involvement in the Rafale jet talks, his name initials ‘RB’ was inked on the first Rafale. Rajnath Singh in October last year had performed a shastrapuja of the fighter jet during his visit to France. He also took a sortie in the jet. All four delivered jets will be equipped with over a dozen India-specific enhancements at a cost of around one billion euros

( I hope our DFI friends from france stays safe from this coronavirus :))
