To me it seems to be a technical issue, if K4 does not end up being tested today. It it were postponement due to "strategic restraint", the tests would be unlikely to have been rescheduled so close to each other.

I wonder if they have any problems with the launching platform or with some missile components themselves.

wait till 6.00 PM IST, that is where news will come if they test it. I would say they must be testing after lunch, which would be in hour from now. Plus its good time to take pic.............

I agree. It's still 5 hours away, but waiting till the very end of the window would suggest that they probably found some kinks that need to be ironed out. In most cases developers and users would err on the side of caution.

I would not be surprised if the test was rescheduled to a later date.

And they do test today....then it's lungi dance!!!

There is no issue of "strategic Restraint" as India is now a MTCR country. We don't have any restriction and India and GOI does not buckle under pressure (BTW who would pressurize India when a huge carrot of single engine and twin engine fighter plane (400 fighters) and other defence deals are dangling not the US as it has interest in strong capable India to take on China).

I had earlier posted that this time around they are testing K-5 under the garb of K-4 hence there may be technical problems with it or they want to be very sure that it does not turn out to be failure. Have patience for good news. Everything is alright.

OR did they tested it without leaking Success reports.. last time I remember after Nirbhay's failed launch, RM was very harsh on leaked information to press.

Why are we issuing NAVArea warnings if we are not testing any missiles. Something is odd.

I think there has been a media clamp down. The leak from which Hemant Rout used to get information seems to have been stopped or else it may have been a success. We would get reports of failures a bit too easily in the lst few years except for K4 for which if any leak is done a big Danda may be awaiting for the person. Remember that we got news of K4 much later than the tests and even for K15 we had already done multiple tests before the "official "launch

Such warnings are a daily affair .

Warnings of Army Air defence firing , coastal battery firing , CG aircraft firing and Naval Ship firings are released on a daily basis .

This most probably will be Air Defence Gun firings on BPTA (Basic Pilotless Target Aircraft ).

Sources say the re-scheduling of the K-4 SLBM test that was slated for mid-February was due to technical issues with the launch pontoon.

So it appears to be technical fault. I thought as much in my posts above

But then K4 was tested previously from the same or similar platform and there seemed to be no problems. What could it have been that led to two postponements?

That leads me to the next question- was it really K4 that was being tested?

Suddenly what @lcafanboy said above starts to make more sense. Could it have been something like K4 prime or even K5 in the garb of K4?
