JSDF`s 2010 Fuji Firepower Demonstration:

Exercise of the Ground Self-Defense Force at the foot of Mount Fuji in Gotenba, 100km west of Tokyo, 24 August 2010. About 2,400 military personnel, 80 tanks and armored vehicles and 30 aircraft took part in the annual exercise.

Wow! What's with the Japanese for going gung-ho after so many years of abstinence from even uttering the word "military"? Suddenly there are war games and drills independent of USA on the island nation.

We've to wait and see whether this is signalling an independence from US Achilles hold or training to face PLA just in case.
