J&K: Two terrorists gunned down as flushing out operation continues in Handwara
Army killed two terrorists in Handwara area of Jammu & Kashmir, as the gunbattle between security forces and terrorists continues on Tuesday. Two Army jawans were also injured in the combing operation.

Earlier on Monday, terrorists fired on a police party outside Chadoora police station in Budgam district of Kashmir, in which SHO sub-inspector Shabir Ahmad of Chadoora was killed and two other police jawans were injured.

Armed with AK assault rifles, a group of unidentified terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the police party led by a Station House Officer (SHO) at busy Chadoora chowk, 16 kms from Srinagar, on Monday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

Three policemen – SHO Chadoora Sub-Inspector Shabir Ahmad, constable Mohammad Shafi and SPO Firdous Ahmad – were injured in the terrorist firing along with a shopkeeper Ghulam Mohammad.

The injured were immediately evacuated to hospital, where the officer who had received a burst of gunfire in the chest succumbed to his wounds, the spokesman said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

The attack took place shortly after the police party left the nearby police station for patrolling, police sources said, adding the ultras escaped from the scene, taking advantage of panic which followed the firing.
