ISRO satellites under development

GSAT-31

GSAT-31spacecraft is configured with enhanced I-2K bus. It is a communication spacecraft carrying Ku-band transponders with 36 MHz and 225 MHz bandwidth and providing coverage over Indian mainland or oceanic region.

GSAT-20

GSAT-20 Spacecraft is configured based on ISRO’s standard I-3K Bus. It is a communication spacecraft to be launched onboard GSLV Mk-III. It has Ka x Ka high throughput payload. Presently, the satellite subsystems are under realization.

GSAT-22, 23 & 24

The three communication satellites GSAT-22, 23 & 24 will be configured with ISRO’s standard I-3K Bus. These satellites will carry Ku-band transponders. The satellite subsystems are under various stages of realization.

DoS annual report 2018-19 is out

(Please check attachment; PDF)
https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/annualreport2018-19.pdf

Interesting bits:

Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX): This project will develop and demonstrate the technologies needed for docking two spacecraft (Chaser & Target) and to control one spacecraft from the Attitude Control System of other spacecraft in the docked condition. Subsequent to docking, the Chaser and Target will be separated so that they would carry-out their designated experiments with payloads. This technology will be a forerunner to future planetary missions including crew transfer, international participation etc.

Semi-Cryogenic Project: The semi-cryogenic Project envisages the design and development of a 2000 kN semi-cryogenic engine for a future heavy-lift Launch Vehicle. The semi-cryogenic engine uses a combination of Liquid Oxygen (LOX) and ISROSENE (propellant-grade kerosene), which are eco-friendly and cost-effective propellants. Autonomous Film Cooling (AFC) assembly for thrust chamber, brazing process technology for lift-off seal in main turbo pump, multi-layer coating of nickel, silver and copper over SS (06X15H6M) for thrust chamber components, ultra high strength fasteners and PCTFE coating for V-type turbo pump were developed. The engine component fabrication is in progress.

Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC): A new center namely Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC) is created within ISRO/DOS with the responsibility to act as the lead center for Human Space Flight Program. This center will be responsible for the execution of Gaganyaan program that involves R&D in new domains of Space Science and Technology.Besides, HSFC shall focus on the development of the engineering systems related to the orbitor module, the human centric technology domains of bio-astronautics, crew training and life support, basic and applied space sciences, human and robotical space exploration etc. In addition, HSFC shall also play the role of a technology aggregator to bring together the national expertise in diverse disciplines for multi directional growth and capacity.

Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV-TD): The development of Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) - Orbital Re-entry Experiment has been taken up by ISRO. The development envisages launch of a winged body Orbital Re-entry Vehicle (ORV) to a low earth orbit using an ascent vehicle and demonstration of re-entry of the ORV and autonomous landing on a runway.

GSLV Mk III hitting 4000 kg capacity and we have "ISRO Council" as a new addition in organization's tree structure.

Apart from future IRNSS/NavIC missions there is mention of steps being taken to introduce NavIC chip on mobile phones.
At which page no. information about docking experiment is given ?.. my bad, not able to find it !!

Docking is a separate experiment, not related to Gaganyaan. If it succeeds, the data and equipment from it will be used for future missions that require docking.

Setting up of Space Technology Incubation Centre at NIT- Tiruchirappalli
On May 29, 2019, ISRO set-up the third Space Technology Incubation Centre (S-TIC) at NIT- Tiruchirappalli to encourage start-ups and entrepreneurship among student community and to develop Academia–Industry ecosystem for Space Technology in the country.
Dr. K. Sivan, Chairman – ISRO / Secretary – DOS inaugurated the S-TIC at NIT- Tiruchirappalli remotely from Bangalore and addressed the audience through videoconference.
Describing the role of ISRO for the multidimensional welfare of the people, Dr. Sivan envisaged the broad participation of academic institutions to come forward and contribute towards the continual growth of the Indian Space Programme.
This S-TIC at NIT- Tiruchirappalli will cover the entire southern region of our country (comprising of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Tamilnadu and Telangana) and take a lead role towards its objectives.
Prof. Mini Shaji Thomas – Director, NIT-Trichy and Dr. P.V. Venkitakrishnan, Director, Capacity Building Programme Office, ISRO-HQ signed and exchanged the MoU.
Dr. M. Umapathy, Dean (R & C), NIT-T and Jiwan Kumar Pandit, Associate Director, CBPO, ISRO-HQ thanked all the participants from various academic institutions and industry representatives from CII, BHEL and Tiruchirappalli district for their active participation.
The first and second such centres are already functioning at NIT-Agartala and NIT-Jalandhar for North-eastern and North region of our country respectively.

NavIC

Initiatives towards introducing NavIC chip onboard smartphones have been undertaken to receive NavIC signals. Discussions with several mobile manufacturers have been initiated with regard to technical support as well as in terms of policy to expedite enabling mobile devices for receiving NavIC signals.

SRO, in conjunction with mobile phone OEM’s, is in discussions with major chip manufacturers like Broadcom, Qualcomm etc., to undertake development of chip to add NavIC capability across all ranges of mobile phones.
BREAKING: New Xaiomi Mi 8 smartphone to be first in the world NAVIC enabled smartphone.

is the western coast not suitable for rocket launches! What was the reason for rejecting Gujarat!
Geographical location. That's not only a point significantly farther from equator which makes it require more thrust to lift off but also geographical structure makes it unsafe for launching and landing anything there.
Debris of burnt stages of SSLV or splashing back of Gaganyaan, both could hit ground.

Sorry to say, Gujarat was a political stunt here.

Gravity is lowest at the equator that alone will enhances LV payload capability, a + for LV with low capability. Plus the dog leg maneuver over SriLanka will be a too much for SSLV making it less lucrative.
