The parents had been told that their children would be taken to London where they would be given refugee status, but after leaving Yemen, it was discovered that they wouldn't be allowed to land, and so the children were moved to Argentina before the last leg of their trip.
Brits are same bastards today as when they kept Jews from escaping the Holocaust and coming to Palestine.

Anti-Israel Resolution Narrowly Defeated at IAEA

A proposed resolution by Arab states criticizing Israel's widely-rumored atomic arsenal was narrowly defeated Friday at a gathering of the UN nuclear agency.

Following a lively debate at the International Atomic Energy Agency's annual general conference, the measure, supported by Iran, was defeated by 51 votes against and 43 in favor with 32 abstentions.

Israel is widely assumed to have nuclear weapons but has never acknowledged it and is not a signatory to the landmark Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

The Jewish state is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency but is not subject to IAEA inspections except for at a small research facility.

The resolution debated at the meeting of all 159 IAEA member states expressed "concern about Israeli nuclear capabilities and calls upon Israel to accede to the NPT and place all its nuclear facilities under comprehensive IAEA safeguards".

In 2009 the same resolution was narrowly approved by members of the IAEA, and in 2010 it was defeated only after intensive lobbying efforts by Western countries.

In 2012 and in 2011 Arab states decided not to propose the resolution, saying that they did so in order to encourage the creation of a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.

These efforts, however, have so far come to nothing, with a hoped-for conference failing to take place in late 2012 as planned.

Iran is under intense international pressure because of suspicions that its nuclear activities, which have expanded greatly over the past decade, are aimed at developing the bomb. It has consistently denied that it is seeking a nuclear arms capability.

Oman's ambassador Badr Mohamed Zaher Al Hinai, talking on behalf of Arab states at the IAEA, said that the proposed resolution "could resuscitate" efforts towards a nuclear-free Middle East.

Attacking the "double standards" of Western countries, he called allegations that other Middle East countries were seeking nuclear weapons a "huge distortion of the facts".

But speaking for Israel, deputy ambassador Daniel Danieli said that the resolution amounted to "Israel-bashing" that "contributes to the politicization of the IAEA."

Israel Attacks Hezbollah-Bound Convoy at Syria Borde/

The Kuwaiti publication Al Jarida quoted "a senior source in Jerusalem" who said on Wednesday that Israeli fighter aircraft two days ago bombed a truck carrying missiles along the Lebanon-Syria border.

The truck was en route to the Lebanese, Shiite terror organization Hezbollah. The report is yet to be confirmed by other sources. In a discussion yesterday, Israeli Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon said that "we are monitoring the handling of the Syrian regime and what is being referred to as the dismantling of the chemical weapons – a process already accompanied by global supervision.

As of now, the regime is meeting its obligations. However, the true test will be the end result. Will it eventually attempt to conceal or keep some sort of capability, or will it really dismantle everything? Only time will tell. "On the matter of activity in Syria in general, we are still keeping our red lines. We will not allow the transfer of qualitative weapons from Syria to terrorist organizations, with emphasis on Hezbollah.

We will not allow the transfer of chemical weapons to any hostile entity, and of course we will not allow the violation of our sovereignty in the Golan Heights. There has yet to be any attempt with regards to the chemical issue so far, and with the other things, every such attempt was met with our activity."

However, the report, which relied on an unnamed "official source" in Jerusalem, did not say whether the targets were in Lebanon or Syria at the time of the strike.

The Times of Israel could not independently confirm the report. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to answer questions from an Israel Radio reporter Tuesday morning regarding alleged Israeli strikes in Syria.

On Tuesday Lebanese media reported that Israeli warplanes and pilot-less drones overflew villages in south Lebanon.

US to supply six V-22 Osprey aircraft to Israeli Air Force

The US Department of Defense (DoD) is supplying six V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft to the Israeli Air Force (IAF) to help strengthen the country's defence capabilities, US defence secretary Chuck Hagel has revealed

Speaking during the 100th annual Anti-Defamation League (ADL) meeting in New York, US, Hagel said, ''Israel will get six V-22s out of the next order to go on the assembly line, and they will be compatible with other [Israeli defense force] capabilities.''

An unnamed senior defence official was quoted by Defense News as saying that Israel sent an official request to the Pentagon for procurement of six V-22 helicopters, earlier this week.

''As such, the United States will fold Israel's request into the next lot of aircraft to go onto the assembly line, and the Marine Corps will recoup its aircraft at a later date,'' the official said.

The acceleration will ensure delivery in two years, making Israel the first foreign operator of the aircraft, according to the official.

IAF, US Air Force hold largest joint-military exercise in Israel's history

Some 50 fighter jets belonging to Israel, Greece, the US and Italy took off Sunday morning from the Ovda air base, signaling the beginning of the largest military air exercise in Israel's history.

The Blue Flag exercise is being hosted by Israel will continue until Thursday and will include more than 60 jet fighters among them the Tornado, AMX and F-15. The IAF is also sharing its jets, both as part of the allies' forces and as the mock-enemy they will target.

The IDF stresses that the exercise's goal is to examine the group's general aerial capabilities, not focusing on any specific operational situation; the comments are intended to stress that the exercise is not related to any future possible attack plan on Iran.

The exercise has been in the works for over a year, and in anticipation the IAF conducted two training flights a day during the last six months. According to an IDF source, each one of the participating countries is paying for the costs of its respective share in the exercise.

Representatives from over 20 nations Рincluding a slew of military attach̩s and representatives from the Cypriot and Bulgarian air forces Рare viewing the exercise. However, the Turkish and Polish representatives did not partake.

The exersize includes training missions to identify anti-aircraft missiles – ranging from RPGs to advanced systems – as well as surface-to-air ones. The exercise will also include mock dogfights.

Israelis in Thailand undisturbed by protests

Three people killed, 103 injured in skirmishes over weekend in Bangkok, but Hanukkah celebrations in Asian country carry on as usual as riots are concentrated in government quarter of capital city

Israelis living and travelling in Thailand say they have not felt the rise in violence in the streets, which reached its peak when an angry mob forced Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to leave the police complex where she was visiting.

"It's true that there are worried parents that are calling us, and backpackers looking to know where it's safe to travel, but the Hanukkah celebrations are carrying on as usual," said Rabbi Nehemiah Wilhelm, the Bangkok Chabad House emissary.

Rabbi Wilhelm said that without the reports in the media he would not have known about the protests at all. "People are protesting outside the government buildings and blocking roads. They stepped it up when they tried to break into the prime minister's house, but that was an anomaly. Thai people are generally very quiet and introverts. We're lighting Hanukkah candles tonight, and we never considered canceling it."

Apologies if already posted.

Found this video on youtube.

2 things here.
1) Once the narrator says they were using saltish water for irrigation of fruits/vegetables. How??
2) Later in the video, bio-bee company person said to reduce the fly problem , they sterilized the male flies/insects which over the years ensured that there is no insect/fly problems to the farm output. But is this approach right even?? They are endangering an entire species.

But overall, yes the israelis have made desert bloom.:thumb:

Israel's 'Epilogue' wins big at India film fest

The Israeli film "Epilogue" nabbed a major award this week at the Bangalore International Film Festival in India.

The film, from director Amir Manor and producer Assaf Amir, is a quiet and touching look at the life of an aging couple struggling to cope with the realties of modern Israel. Much in the style of Michael Haneke's "Amour," which last year won both an Oscar and the Cannes Palme d'Or, it is a simple, character-driven story featuring excellent performance by its two leads (Yosef Carmon and Rivka Gur).

"Epilogue" picked up BIFF's Netpack award in the Asian Cinema category of the festival, which closed on Wednesday after screening more than 150 films in the capital city of the Karnataka State of India.

Festival Jury head Rajesh Gongaju told the Times of India, "It was a difficult choice to make. But Epilogue won the award unanimously for its precise storytelling."

"Epilogue" is a product of arthouse production company Norma Productions, who are also the force behind other Israeli festival darlings such as "Fill the Void," "Noodle," and "Broken Wings." It also picked up awards at the Jerusalem Film Festival and screened at Venice.
