US is an ally of the elite ruling Pakistan, and don't forget, Pakistan was never about the common man, right from the days of its creation, it was created for the elites and has been run by them since. This distinction is important since we tend to view US-Pak relations from a lens similar to the one we would for most other such relations, don't!

Pakistani ruling elite will never give up on the US, ever. There are the PRC and India right across, and Pakistan's need for the west is so much more, also after 1971, the fear psychosis of another partition persists. There is a mutual need for each other, and no one is going to give up on the other.

Pakistan over a period of time has played the balancing game of using the Chinese and the Americans, one against the other, for long, mastered it and a more recent entry of "terrorist" groups has further enhanced their need for the two, and interestingly both these countries are victims of terrorism coming off Pakistan, and the two still want to keep engaging Pakistan, this shows how well Pakistan has, over many years, positioned it self, realising well their limitations.

If Pakistan walks away with billions by sheltering terrorists like Osama Bin Laden, and China centric terror groups, that to me speaks volumes about their ability to extract all that they can, and not just from these two, but from India under Gujral, Vajpayee, and MMS they have shown the ability of having achieved the same.

For the man on the street of Pakistan, he might perceive the country to be one that is being abused, but from the perspective of an elite ruling Pakistan, nothing of the sort is happening.

Similarly a slave woman does not have the right to refuse her master's requests unless she has a valid excuse. If she does that she is being disobedient and he has the right to discipline her in whatever manner he thinks is appropriate and is allowed in sharee'ah.
