I expect there is some thinking that India being strong considering India is a good idea, balance of power and would like Indias help with Afganstan but US foreign policy is not that well organized to do much for than that.

Regarding the topic, there is no policy of US to support india to take on pakistan. Also there is no need of any US aid to india to take on pakis. We are not begging US to support us so that we can take on pakis. That senator is telling his local audience that we will hurt pakis by helping india if they don't behave. Hello boss, if you are so powerful, then how come you allowed pakis to backstab you? If US doesn't pressurise us into not taking action on pakis, then that would do some good on their part.
