In a Sunday ceremony in Tehran, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan unveiled the most recent defensive achievements of the Iranian ground forces.

The products on display at the event included a six-barrel gun, a high-tech composite armor, the Sabalan tank, a 155mm cannon, dubbed "Hoveyze", as well as a super-heavy tactical vehicle known as "Zuljanah".

The six-barrel weapon, dubbed "Moharram", is a 50 caliber firearm with the high rate of fire of 2,000-2,500 rounds per minute.

The powerful machine gun can also be mounted on a broad range of military vehicles, choppers, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), warships and destroyers.

The advanced composite armor, which has been manufactured on the basis of shear-thickening fluid (STF) technology, enables the product to behave like a solid when it encounters mechanical stress.

The home-made armor is even resistant to armor-piercing projectiles with steel core, and also meets the global standards of the military equipment.

Utilizing the new product in Iran's military equipment will decrease by 76% the weight of the structures that are installed on the tanks, armored personnel carriers and other vehicles.

The Sabalan tank, a modified version of older Iranian tanks, is equipped with a 105mm cannon, an advanced fire-control system and the necessary communication and wireless systems.

And another new achievement, namely the Zuljanah super-heavy tactical vehicle, has 5 axles (10 wheels), three of which are steerable.

The tactical vehicle has the suitable features to carry out missions on different terrains and in various weather conditions in the country.

The versatile vehicle weighs 21 tons and is capable of crossing rivers as deep as 1.5 meters. It can also carry loads up to 30 tons and goods as long as 10.5 meters and moves on surfaces with a slope of up to 25 degrees.

In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic's defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

Sanctions have made them more stronger & paved the way for indigenisation in a big way , people can counter on the quality of these weapon , But something is better than nothing

Better of from importing duds :thumb:

We have robust industry base and can to wonders if we bring in private company

Tata's , Mahindra & Leyland have the money to buyout reasonable defence company oversees or form JV to satisfy our wants ( Eg: Gripps aero buyout by Mahindra)

I will not blindly blame public company & DRDO on not supplying the armed force with more indigenious weapons , since many political & monetary factor play part

So way out is Local PUBLIC & PRIVATE companies:thumb: , but forin that we need a guy like Sardar patel in defence ministry who can tell armed force enough is enough first preference is for indian company or go to hell & be aggressive with OFB , HAL & DRDO on keeping timeline & even provide private industry to participate in big way . Not like FICV saga:toilet::facepalm:

we cannot definitely cannot blame DRDO.......they have been trying so hard to be on par with other major nations by providing modern and standard weapons. They are bringing forward innovations like as in the case of drdo mciws. But the top brass both in army and govt seems to go on with imports than supporting our local industry......i believe that this needs to change

The only Criticism i will put on them is they are plagued by internal politics & they are not going all out & taking centre stage on all TOT offers absorbing those and get the indian version from TOT agressively pursue Armed force & defence ministry to give first preference to Indian industry than overseas:thumb:

Read my first post , there will be always claims and counter claims on quality of these machines

Indigenisation by hook or crook :thumb: no harm in adopting this policy instead of importing duds

Eg: What have we done with Bofors gun now?? Dhanush is that whole and sole indian gun???

Are you sure the import weapons we bring are high end one & we get full 100% TOT , One thing for sure is kick back

Coming back to Chinese crap , Chinese copy etc . If the weapons of china is not good enough we is the aksin chin still under chinese command ?? & they give sleepless night in borders , not to forget 1962

Biggest mistake what we do is underestimate our foes

Country flag

It is indeed perplexing that while the Iranian regime loves to bash America yet their military industry loves copying American weapons (even if only as to looks). Like the above tank, why did they copy the silhouette of an M1 and not Leopard 2 or Lecrec instead?
