Nonsense.

1) 57 are for IAC, there is no question they are needed as MIG29Ks have not been ordered for IAC-1
2) as good as NLCA MK2 will be it will still be a single engine light fighter, how can it possible compete with the rafale m? And from a safety perspective IN do not want to be operating single engine fighters from carriers which is perfectly understandable

US operates F-18s super hornet for carriers in future F-35s twin engine will come but it will have New gen advent engines which are more reliable.

If I may, my point exactly for the Mig 29 K to be the sole fighter for the IN, by the time the IN starts inducting the new order of fighters, the carriers would have been a little older and there is a fixed lifespan for carriers, there are even upgrades which are to be done quickly, so another set and some won't be logistically difficult due to the supply chain being stronger then other companies, if selected.

The USN was arm twisted into accepting the F-35. No sane Navy in the world will accept a SE fighter for carrier ops.

The entire F-35 program was doomed to fail because of the USMC. The USMC, traumatised by its experience in the Guadalcanal campaign, where the USN's carriers where driven off by the IJN, stranding Marines onshore to face ever more fanatic Jap attacks without air support, has ever since sought capable VTOL aircraft so that they need not rely on the carriers.

Thus they sought to build the ultimate fighter which could be used by all three services. The VTOL requirement screwed the Navy and the Air Force.

And disregarding all of this, just because the USN has to operate a SE fighter from its carriers, why should we do the same mistake? Especially since we know what can go wrong : hint, look at the Sea Harrier record in our fleet.

Flawed as this comparison is, you forget that the F-35C has Catapult assisted take off. It can make do with a pathetic Power to Weight ratio.

The Tejas doesn't have that luxury - and before you say that we can develop a variant for catapult take off, just don't.

..........Could the AMCA-N be ideal for the USN and the USMC? Apart from Turkey, south Korea and Japan we too are making one with GE engines to power them.

The F-35C currently costs 50% more than the F-35A. Even the USN is talking about cutting the order in half and buying more Super Hornets.

US isn't India. IN VERY unhappy with the MiG-29K and one of the biggest issues it has with the MiG-29K is that it (still) isn't certified for single engine take offs from a carrier.

IN isn't interested in single engine fighters from its carriers, it can't afford to lose 10+ fighters a year like the USN does.

MiG-29K will serve only on Vikramditya after 2025.

Rafale M will do wonders only they would have issues with vikramaditya and we need both types. Mig 29 k will do till vishal (class carrier series) begins I think, due to maintenance ease. Also they are cleaner, in terms of upgrades (Mirage 2000 during kargil), easier to order and to an extent loss proof. 3 - 7 (4- east-west, lakshwa, A and N 'coastal' or 4 Tejas N sqds) More Mig 29 k sqds would complete the need for the Naval requirement(s). Also, the whole fighter air arm is training on MiG 29 Ks and Tejas is Indian and has GE engine choice of use, so much better in time line of carrier life.

Rafale-M isn't for Vikramditya but IAC-1 and any future carrier.

Russians arm twisted IN to get MiG-29K ordered so okay the sale of the Vikramditya.

IN simply doesn't want more MiG-29Ks,they could have ordered enough by now- they have had that option for almost a decade but have chosen not to.

Seems like most of the chassis and body is laid out. Now only engine and sound system fitting is to be done.

P.S. I don't know anything about carrier construction take what I say with a fistful of salt.

They have yet to start coating the flight deck with the slip-resistant polymer coating. Is that the last step? Also, looks like the radars are in place (the holes on the mast are covered). Not sure if the aircraft lifts are installed. Will this ship really begin trials this year?

From what I remember, he said trials be 2018 and commissioning by 2020.
