ICube-1 : Developed by IST Pakistan, but launched by a Russian Dnepr rocket. Was placed in orbit but no signals received. Mission failed.
Too funny @Neo ,Is this what you meant when you said 'Even our universities can build satellites' ?

I hope you were joking when you asked that question.
Anyway, let me elaborate - for spying.
RISAT-2, All CARTOSAT, and in fact any LEO satellite will have an orbit over USA, so RISAT-2 can spy on USA.

Building a satellite is no longer a challenge, universities can build one. The real challenge lies in the delivery system, a slv. We can convert our shaheen missiles for that purpose. India did the same.
first your cheap chinese tech painted by paki missile got to lift its a#% above mark of 2600 km range,

those chinese missile still stuck at 2600 km range.

Just like GSLV is an ICBM, right?
NO NO, GSLV can't be used as an ICBM, Cryogenic Engines are very ill -suited for missiles, anyways RISAT does have an orbit over USA, it is not Geo-stationary, so basically it comes across all sites in USA every 3-4 days. Any satellite in LEO will have such an orbit, RISAT is also sun synchronous so it must always remain active, but it will cache those images before it reaches within the range of any ISRO satellite tracking station.

wow!! cool
Indian satellites spying on US- Canadian Border or US- Mexico Border or lets say..the nuclear Bunkers and other establishments of US or watch test flights over AREA 51!!! which is COOL to do..Aint it?

Shouldnt our priority be realistic on our borders , our seas and neighbors...our mil. communication and navigation capabilities , satellite killers that gives us more independence in critical areas than space voyeurism..

SAARC satellite is a proactive diplomatic move an extension of India's soft power projection.

Exactly. And SAARC has done nothing/can give us anything to deserve a satellite that'll boost India's soft power.
That, was the point to begin with. Let me ask you, how many satellites have USA given to its allies, forget neighbours. Has Russia, our friend, ever done anything of this sort??

If SAARC hasnt done something..its time we do something with the SAARC.
Why should we look at What US did or What Russia didnt do..?
India should go by its foreign policies based on regional priorities than emulate some one else foreign policies.

India has lots of smaller nations who are very friendly to India, around it, who has very rudimentary satellite capabilities Such a move would be a good gesture.

A few of these nations are victims of natural disasters from time to time and SAARC satellite could help them in this regard providing early warning in such dire needs. Its the same way as helping the neighbor post such natural disasters.
Well!! in South Asia...interests of a few nations do converge.. If we are looking forward to build roads and rail networks between nations in South Asia...its high time we start such cooperation in space too.

US, Mexico sign deal on sharing satellite data directly
MEXICO CITY (AP) — The United States and Mexico signed a deal Friday for Mexico to capture and process land-surface imagery and data directly from a U.S.-operated satellite.

The agreement means Mexico will be able to get the raw information from the Landsat 8 satellite immediately instead of waiting for filtered data to be released by U.S. authorities.

Mexico joins about a half dozen other countries that are already downloading such data directly from U.S. satellites, U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said.

Officials said that will yield benefits in areas including agriculture, geology, forestry, mapping and climate change research. It will also help Mexico improve monitoring of hurricanes such as last month's Patricia, a monster Category 5 storm that fortunately avoided making a direct blow on major population centers.

The agreement "acknowledges Mexico's capability and hunger, really, for this real-time data to address the challenges and the opportunities that they have on the ground," Jewell told The Associated Press. "If you look at Hurricane Patricia ... that's the kind of information that Mexico could have been using in real time to help it prepare."

"And it lessens its dependence on the United States for interpretation of that data and enables it to directly integrate it with the data that it has, which can provide it more useful information than perhaps what they could do without that direct download," she added.

Jewell and Eduardo Sojo, president of Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography, signed the agreement in the Mexican capital on the sidelines of the 2015 Ministerial Summit of the Group on Earth Observations.

Sojo said Mexico will receive downloads from Landsat 8 at a station operated by the country's space agency in the Caribbean coastal city of Chetumal, on the southeastern border with Belize.

"We also, and this is extraordinarily important, will receive the historical information," Sojo said. "So we will be able to construct models that let us precisely anticipate disasters and model the impact that climate change is having on issues such as flooding, on issues such as agriculture, in the different areas where we use satellite images."

He added that Mexico plans to share the data to federal, state and local government entities as well as researchers and universities.

No, not happening anytime soon unless you give up afghan based proxies against us.
Which idiot told you that? Seriously. o_O
We have military and political power and whenever have to pressurize you, we did it directly if you know.
Neither we have capability to play proxy wars nor we need that.
Our political and military power enables to overcome this. I hope you may have understood before I have to give an example which could insult pakistan. :mad2:

Good news is that China is eyeing the Chahbahar port, the only alternative India has to access CAR.
Then, you must know about our move in central Asia. For example, Kazakhstan.
We always have a back up plan. :D

First give up the Good Taliban [ one who kills Indians read Kufar] and Bad Taliban [ fights the PA, i.e. TTP]... Eliminate LeT, JeM those are killing innocents civilians in India... For Pakistan's interest you should eliminate those Good & Bad Taliban from your soil... India will support you in whatever way it can... let us fight is together ...

I saw few Pakistanis journalist were laughing on Jan 3rd TV program mocking India on Pathankot attack... they were telling that Pakistan has nothing to do with them as they are non state actors in Pakistan and done by Indians themselves ... What if Afghans / Indians return you the same jive as on Bachha Khan attack has happened was done by non state actors or possibly done by PA / ISI to defame India ??

There will be no peace in the region with the shadow of terrorism... what you call Guftu Gu chalthe rehenge for another 50 years or more with same result...

Good news is that China is eyeing the Chahbahar port, the only alternative India has to access CAR.
If it is true ... Then is really a bad news for Pakistan... More the use of Chahbahar better will be for its economically and financially and bad for Gwadar...

With Chinese economic downturn, It will be foolish on the part of China will do anything to needle India...

Actually, Chinese and Indian Economy are mutually dependent on each other. Both may have strategic interests crossing each other but they won't harm Indian Economy.
If Chinese economy may not have slowdown, we could have double digit growth rate due to huge trade with them.
Similar for China. :)

For both India and China economic development is the one and only objective going forward ... My take is Indian economy will maintain a 7.5 % growth rate [ not enough] for next 2 - 3 years then I see a jump to double digit growth rate... Let hope for the best...

We don't need gifts from India. Go ahead, launch it for those who can't build one.
Pakistan can not build one. Infact Pakistan can not make a 100 CC moped engine. That is whay we have to do the cherity.

No they lie in range also. Last time they told that they have tested a 1500 KM range missile and indian scientists came with the fact that the actual test range was something 260 KM. Look, Pakistanis say that their chinese junk JF17 can beat Su 30 MKI. They are the people of wishful thinking and they start believing firmly which they think it should be.

Yes we can and we have done it. Eventhough the national space program runs on a very small budget, we do have a very mature missile programe and the technology can be easily converted for civil use.

Hopefully in a few years we'll have a better budget.

Don't you think that it is not a very cogent argument on your part considering the fact that Pakistan has not been able to, even after 68 years of independence, produce a decent bike, that anyone on the planet (except for Pakis themselves) is going to believe that Pakis have a mature missile program.

I have searched high and wide all over the internet and have never come across even a shred of evidence of any indigenous Paki engineering industry. Have you?

Indian, Hindu satellites are haram for Pakistan.:hail::hail:.
but on a serious note, it happened as it was expected. it was a repetition of what conspired in the SAARC road linkup. Pakis objected so we rejected. Better luck terrorist.:hehe::hehe:
