Big boy computer science words by jocks indicate a certain sense of insecurity. Especially when you have spent most of your life being a simple minded neocon.

" Neoconservative - Criminally insane spenders that believe in killing brown people for the new world order. Huge Orwellian government, unfathomable amounts of spending, bomb tens of thousands of people to death to rearrange the globe. Take the worst aspects of the liberal and conservative positions and combine them into one and you would have a NeoCon.
Neocons are the greatest threat to life, liberty and property this country has ever known. "

Well, in the condition that Hillary Clinton makes it to White House in 2016 we have to look out for changes in US- India relations - deterioration perhaps in light of Clinton's `Get Modi` campaign. India should be prepared for this !

AN Oppurtunitic hard core Capitalist country thats all. The One which bends the rule according to its need. Created and encouraged Mujhahideen
when it fought against Soviets and now are fighting against them. Extremely self Interested.

And about its general Public. No Idea or No Comments. Have a feeling though that the general Public themselves do not know how oppurtunistic their government is.

What is the question? Is the question, "what is your opinion of the US" or is it "what is your opinion of US reliability vis-a-vis India"?

If the is the former, the US is undoubtedly the greatest country in the history of mankind. No doubt about it.

If it is the latter, I would be careful to get too close to the US and enter the US "camp". All said and done, the US can be really close only to an Anglo-Saxon nation.
Believe it or not, US relations with the UK could be very rancorous at times prior to WWII. Hell, we were in an arms-race with Britain as recently as the 1920s.

Eventually, I expect geopolitical realities will force America and India closer together; but for now, American arrogance and Indian 3rd-world-$hitheadism keep the two apart.

The question the way it is posed is flawed. You should not use the word "americans" but "American govt." Because American people are as much victims of US govt. as the rest of the world is. They are living under fear, are brainwashed with misinformation (junk food and junk news), being spied upon and drowning in debt trying to save their homes and children's future. Most Americans are angry and DO NOT agree what their govt is doing...creating one war after another...BUT they have no voice, no power and feel helpless.
The military ,industrial complex has hijacked U.S . and has this crazy delusion of dominating and controlling the World by military power. Yes, American culture has become extremely selfish, self centred,, lazy and materialistic. Americans are fooled and controlled by media financed by zionist, war mongers who dream of unlimited profits by attacking other nations. Rest of the World is afraid and doesnot know how to respond to this immoral, powerful entity. To fight powerful...you have to become powerful.....it's still might is right in 21st century....US govt is proving it each day.

Pretty much every country and any style of governance, whether a democracy, theocracy, autocracy, dictatorship is run by a certain number of coterie, that is the thumb rule to any government, and to all the so-called revolutions that happen, rarely is a case, and extremely rare that the larger civil society has a say, even there, once the people at large have had a say, coterie takes over the charge, and even within the civil society resides the special interest groups who hijack the very agenda that needs to set, to the extent they make you and I think the way they want us to, so let us get over the notion that there exists this utopia where there is a populace say and their representation, none what-so-ever, so the USA isn't just one such victim!

Any country which spends billions of dollars on defense, when so many people in its own territory Are hungry And require health care, when it could quite easily defeat the whole world put together; militarily.... has wrong priorities
Its people like you who are the bane of the world, who think that governments of the world should dole out their food to the idle drunks who wont work for their living and food. Its when I see comments like these I lose the hope that India will get out the socialist hell hole it is today. Besides we are no position to comment on american priorities seeing how shitty our position is

It is sad to note that 0% of the Indians trust US govt......what a tragedy it is that a great nation like United States has been reduced to such an untrustworthy nation by greedy and selfish gang of 1% who are in charge. I think this poll indicates that US need to change its policy and win the trust of the rest of the World back. It's time to go back to original American values based on the constitution....LIberty and Justice for All....I hope "We ..the people " take charge again.

Just wait. Soon our resident "pro-America" sycophants, like @asianobserve, and @HMS Astute, will launch their tirades on you, in the defence of the US government that violates the US Constitution on a daily basis.

@asianobserve,

The terms "sycophant," "demagogue," are used by people in formal discussions. The term you used is profanity, and is used by, amongst others, people like you.

The poll is completely skewed.

If i were to replace US with India then also the result would be the same.

For a nation it's self interests should matter more than trying to win a popularity contest around the world. We Indians are emotional fools.

Russians have been screwing us over the last 4 decades on arms purchases but still we are ready to consider them our best friend/staunch ally. We conveniently forget the Russian attitude during 1962 when Brother came before friend.

We also conveniently forget that when we were in crisis then it was only the US which came forward in terms of PL 480 and fed the entire nation.

Good read.

From the same link :

"What kind of pride and prejudice this country was up against is best illustrated by an interview Vijayalashmi Pandit had with Sam Rayburn, Speaker of the House and a legendary figure on the Hill at that time, from which she returned in a towering rage. It had gone something like this: "Why don't you buy wheat from Pakistan which has wheat in surplus? The only reason you don't is because Hindu India wants to do down Muslim Pakistan," Rayburn said to the ambassador. She tried to control her temper as best she could and said testily that India was not Hindu India, and that it had "more Muslims than Muslim Pakistan."

Rayburn: "Oh, you have Muslims in India! Honey, why didn't you say so earlier?"

Ambassador: "Sam, I have been saying this for two years, ever since I came here, but you don't hear and you don't understand." Whereupon Rayburn's tone suddenly changed, and he said: "No, no, now that I know, now you will have no trouble. If they give you any more trouble, honey, you just tell me."

Were the Us under any obligation to supply us the wheat. Remember as per the terms the payment was made in INR with the provision that the money would not be sent back to the US. Who would agree with such terms.

For a moment just turn the table around to Indo Nepal relationship. you will find the same grouse that the Nepalis have with India, the way we have with the US, despite India pumping so much money and aid to Nepal. We twisted their arms in 80s under Rajiv Gandhi for very flimsy reasons. So does it make India morally superior-- no we were just following our National Interest.

The US was under no obligation to send parthenium along with the wheat that destroyed acres of arable land and caused respiratory diseases. Seen the effect with my own eyes.

Yup.

Aksharadhool: Unwanted guests

Along with the grain, PL 480 ships also brought to India another seed, which created a havoc in India for next two or three decades. This seed was a grass seed known as Parthenium and originally was found in Americas. It however found Indian continent very hospitable and grew by leaps and bounds. It became known popularly as " Congress" or "Gajar" grass and spread everywhere with equal speed and fury. India's fields, meadows, vast expanses of barren lands and even garbage dumps were soon found to be covered with Parthenium grass. This grass was a killer and it slowly eliminated the local grasses.

Parthenium grass and it's lovely little white flowers, were found by many people highly allergic. Rashes over the body, asthma and watery eyes were observed to be common symptoms. As the Parthenium menace grew, number of projects had to be taken across the country to find a suitable method of elimination. After continuous research by many agricultural scientists and organizations, India was able to control to a great extent this unwanted guest.

Was it sent intentionally??

I remember even Afghanistan rejected a consignment of wheat from India.
