re: Indian woman in Ireland dies due to refusal abortion

The Supreme Court of Ireland ruled 20 years ago that abortions could be performed to save the life of the mother.

Don't let that stop you all from expressing your deeply-held anti-Catholic bigotry.

[Edit] I predict that this case will end as one of medical malpractice. I also predict that DFI members will never know that because they will be consumed with the latest cause for them to be outraged about.

More thinking needs to be applied in this forum.

Where are the human rights activists from the west which are ever ready to pounce on India on all kinds of human rights issues.

Actually the Southern Baptists and the Lutherans have surpassed the viciousness of the Catholic missionaries. But the Catholics still got the most moola!

Southern baptist church is heavily active in the North East and they have been involved in separatist activities."Nagaland for christ" is the slogan of one of the separatist movement.

Why do you go to these "civilised" countries my brothers and sisters? Stay in your motherland.

This should serve as a warning to all people who want to shift base only to earn dollars and pounds.

As for Ireland, the family should sue the country for denying this girl's right to life.

Now, now, my man, how about we start getting rid of hawkers on the footpaths of our motherland, so that pedestrians can actually use the footpath, instead of having to walk on the roads, thereby risking their lives? How about paying proper train fares, so that the people do not die in train accidents, in our motherland?

Would you rather be with a careless mother, or a responsible, sincere, and protective step-mother? It took a step-mother, yes, the Queen of England, to stop Sati!

Hmm... this is as disengenous as the guy(John Dayal I think) on TV who said Indians cannot criticise Ireland's killing of this pregnant Indian lady due to Chirstian religious beliefs as thousands of women die in child birth. This young woman died in severe pain, bleeding for 3 days until the heart beat of the fetus stopped and its remains were removed from her womb and it was too late for her, dying from shock and septicaemia. IMHO a nation that could do quadratic equations a half a millenium before Europe would have eventually decided Sati was wrong and stopped the horrible practise.

Yeah Sure, the shit regarding abortion had nothing to do with the Catholic orthodox non-sense right?

Its all because we are all right wing Hindus who just blame anything not Hindu:rolleyes:

NO amount of medical malpractice protection is going to bring the patient's life back . Medical professionals of all people killed a patient on Religous grounds? Seriously how fcked up is that. Probably western nations have a worse medical care than India

How about you read the comment I responded to first and understand the context, instead of posting gibberish?

Actually you are right, if Indian govt(read Nehru Moron) had not screwed this country up with socialism resulting in a poverty of this magnitude, why would the NRIs even leave this place. You see , I wont blame them for trying to find a better living for themselves.

But I cant tolerate them talking shit regarding Socialism since it is completely out of character for them. It will be heights of hypocrisy:truestory:

John Dayal is a terrorist who works for foreign funded NGO's and christian missionaries. He has faked anti-christian pogroms blaming it on muslims and hinudus.Later the matter became very controversial and it was subdue somehow.

I was hearing Father Emmanuel and John Dayal.

They were pathetic.

The West goes hammer and tongs against Medievalism of Muslims, but then if this idiot Priest and that bloke with an English first name take the cake in being steeped in idiotic medievalism.

The silly Pado claimed that Catholicism states that no life could be taken and the child heart was still beating.

Fair enough.

However, if the option was restricted to which one to save, the one which was in the world and real or the one which has not yet come into the world?

Or does Catholicism states let both get killed!

What a pathetic example these two were of religious bigotism and they go hammer and tongs against the Muslim religious beliefs!

An intriguing debate. I know Arnab means well and he meant well in this case, but surely he could tone it down at times.

Indian Government summons Irish envoy

Uncivilized barbarians with stone age mentality. They should be sanctioned ! (sounds familiar ? ;))

---

M Ganapathi of the external affairs ministry summoned the Irish ambassador Feilim McLaughlin on Friday and expressed "India's concern and angst about the untimely and tragic death of Savita Halappanavar" who was denied an abortion.

While McLaughlin said Ireland would provide the fullest cooperation in follow-up inquiries into the circumstances of Savita's death, Ganapathi said the inquiry instituted should be independent.

Ganapathi was also assured that the Indian ambassador in Dublin would be kept abreast of the progress made and outcome of the case. McLaughlin added that the process of framing the terms of reference of the inquiry was ongoing and would be released shortly.

Yes,

Let's do a little more thinking

A women wanted to abort her child, but she was denied her right to do so. Apparently she doesn't have the right to do what see wants with her own body. Do explain to us, what does this has to do with medical negligence? Denying a women right to abort is done purely on religious belief and its only the religious people who support the ban on abortion.

As others posters have said, if the same situation had been reversed and if some poor western women has died because she was refused treatment based on Hindu beliefs, you and other westerners would be shouting from the rooftop about how the west has embraced science and progressed but India still believes in superstitions and is backward.

You have made a good point, and I endorse that fully.

I have a family anecdote, about my maternal uncle, who was bitten by a venomous snake, and was actually saved by devotees at a Roman Catholic Church. It would be silly to blame all Catholics, or Christians, as bigots.

In this particular case, however, the pro-life argument stands on flimsy grounds, because, the acts of the doctors are actually anti-life.

I had mentioned in an earlier post, how western intervention stopped the ill of Hindu society, where women were burnt on their husband's pyre. I thank the then Queen and Empress of the British Empire. It was indeed a divine intervention. In the same token, I think the western societies need to extricate themselves from religious bigotry, instead of delving more into it (case in this point is Texas); for example, anyone who believes that all humans originated form Adam and Eve, must be kept away from science, especially medical science.
