NSG ranking 4th is shocking!!
Only comfort is that no state police overtook NSG, else it would have been quite embarrassing!

Also shocking is that J&K police are last on the list!!! It could be because of all the heavy lifting is done by Army & CRPF in J&K.

Not really shocking, Assam Rifles, ITBP & BSF folk on a day to day basis operate in a host of different terrain, climate and their training levels, especially of their QRT & Commando units are quite high. Keep in mind ITBP, BSF & Assam Rifles are all a lot more operationally active.

NSG is added layer of training for Anti Terror, Anti Hijack, CQB, hostage rescue etc, while they are excellent for these specific roles, NSG isn't quite suited for the kind of vast operational roles that the others play. So you end up with a force that is trained very well for urban/semi urban terror ops etc. while being not able to perform as well as the others in other areas.

Keep in mind Assam Rifles is a ferocious unit, many of the regulars would easily clear various commando courses.

The name of the competition suggests that police personnel were involved. Thus it is my belief that NSG SRG/SCG aka police personnel were involved and not army HIT personnel. Since most of these commando teams were trained by NSG, it stands to reason that NSG SAG would be OP against them and thus acted as observers to the event in Assam under Assam Rifles.
