lol a military train has been standing for more than 24 hrs near my place, looks to me the movement of Mechanized unit.

Couldn't take the pictures because the movement of equipment mostly carried out at night.

Around 400 mts land from tracks is owned by Army.

Catch the extremely rare footage of the INDIAN Military Battle Tanks also known as Main Battle Tanks (MBT) being carried on Flat Bed Wagons. Pretty surprised to see them uncovered .

===================

We are expecting to see lots of T-55s at various places ..

Army inducts customised hi-tech coaches for troops

Lieutenant General R.K. Sharma, Director General (Operation Logistics & Strategic Movement), New Delhi, inspecting the coaches built by the ICF in Chennai.
The rakes will have on-board power generator, RO plants and bio-toilets.

The Indian Army last week inducted customised coaches designed and developed by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) here for military operations. The coaches built with facilities such as on-board power generator, reverse osmosis plants and bio-toilets will be part of exclusive military trains transporting defence personnel and equipment.
The Ministry of Defence had placed an order for 40 Two-Tier AC coaches and 32 Pantry Cars or Military Langars at a cost of Rs. 250 crore.
According to defence sources, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Director-General (Operation Logistic & Strategic Movement) inspected the coaches at the ICF last week and expressed satisfaction over the quality and prompt delivery.
“This is the first time that we have procured custom-made coaches that suit our requirements. The 46-berth AC coaches have emergency evacuation facility in all windows and the two doors to the air conditioned portion can be operated both inward and outward. There are two RO plants in each coach.
The Military Langar has an on-board 75 KV generator, deep freezer and utensil washer.
The Periodic Overhauling of the coaches would be done by the railways.
“The coaches are the first of its kind in military operations. Keeping in mind the requirement of defence personnel, these coaches were specifically designed to enhance the comfort level of troops on the move,” the official said.

I was saying last month that there has been no meaningful expenditure for more than a quarter this year. And now regular orders of Guns and ammo(in small numbers) are being placed this month onwards.

It seems the gap was because there has been a re-delegation of financial powers(DELEGATION OF FINANCIAL POWERS TO DEFENCE SERVICES- 2016) and discretionary amounts of area commanders have been increased from 100 crores to 400 crores. This would be outside of central procurement. That would mean that if any area commanders wants to purchase any additional Guns, ammo, BPJ or helmets they can do it directly from the pre-qualified list of vendors. same with all forces under MoD.

Atleast one step of getting them approved from Delhi is reduced.
This allocation of 400 crores is for what time frame?

Irrespective, a great step. Local manufacturers like MKU and Tonbo should really go in for agressive marketing to area commanders now to sensitize them of the world class products available right here in India.
In some time, we'll see these products making their way to our troops.

I am assuming this is a annual budget..

Don't think they can buy whatever they want, obviously items have to be from pre-approved DGQA list of equipment.
Local Manufacturers need not go to area commanders for demos and stuff, what area commander can do is they can raise the tender directly from a pre-approved list of vendors for a specific equipment. Like in the recent NVD for INSAS, all 6 vendors were specified in the tender itself. who ever becomes L1 gets the deal.
