LCH is pretty much set....they'll only need to fix the MAWS, RWR & DIRCM for FOC. There's a talk of a possible 100kg weight reduction by next year (quite inconsequential).

All those are tested and will take a few months to integrate and validate at most.

Rudra really has done all the heavy lifting for the LCH and that means integration really will be a breeze.

will the 120km range come under mark 2 or mark 3?

the latest 3 pinaka firing was under mark 2 right.

Never said anything about 20% weight reduction. I don't know where you got that from.

That will be a insane claim to make.

All I know is about 100 kg or so weight reduction which hal claimed before pre production and from a friend who claimed possible additional 100-200 kg reduction during production stage via replacement of metallic parts like screws bolts etc etc, with push and pull type appendages and inclusion of lightweight electrical harnesses etc etc .

Recently tested Guided Pinaka hit targets with an accuracy of 33m, 23,3m & 25.5m (still decent)!!!

The initial euphoria of 2m or 5m accuracy is short lived. As I tried to explain to several folks earlier that just 1 or 2 tests is not sufficient to establish CEP of a rocket!!!

Whats the blast/kill radius of the warheads in these rockets?
One more doubt, if the MBRL is used, how many rockets are used and how much area is saturated by them?

Here's some BS happening at OFB/ARDE causing production stoppage of Pinakas for the last 3+ years!!!!

"...Audit found that ARDE was yet to finalise the technical document of Pinaka Rocket and transfer the Authority Holding Sealed Particular (AHSP) role to the inspection agency i.e. Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Armament). Further, critical quality problems like excessive short-ranging, bursting of rockets, burning chunks of propellant, etc. were observed during proof firing of Pinaka rockets between March 2011 and July 2016. ARDE stopped production of Pinaka rockets from July 2016 and subsequently Failure Analysis Board (FAB) were constituted twice (July 2016 and April 2017), However, FAB,s in their reports, failed to pinpoint the exact problem in manufacture of Pinaka rockets. Thus, even after completion of ten years and issue of ‘ii’ rockets to Army till March 2017, production of the Pinaka rockets has not yet been fully stabilized. Due to stoppage of production and supply to Army, ten lots of finished Pinaka rockets valuing ` 217 crore, unfinished Pinaka rockets and its components valuing ` 71.36 crore and stores valuing ` 189.75 crore were lying at OF Chanda, as of July 2017. The fate of unused inventory relating to Pinaka is dependent on the further directives from ARDE........"

Pinaka is ours, so we know of its defects. Unlike the wares from USSR and other assorted CIS countries whose defects will be known only in the battlefield (eg Krasnopol failure).
