Its a wrong perception of history... socialism was fashion in those time... RSS and other right wing were not supporter of open market in those times ,they opposed everything from culture to product.. They would nt have done anything better . Even bhagat singh, subash chandra bosh all belonged to socialist catagory..That was the age when foreign companys were feared.. It was Manmohan singh in 1991 who brought economic liberalization despite critics from right and left..which gradually resulted in faster growth.. And GST as a concept was introduced by Atal Bihari Bajpayee and GST bill was 1st conceptialised by UPA 2 ... Supporting Modi on defence matter is fine but lets stick to the facts.. demonitization was a stroke for small and medium industries..corporate investment was down by 60%..Modi govt on economic front has more or less failed.. Our growth is at 5% now..That too after changing base year.. and God knows wht changes they might have brought in to statistical calculation.. manufacturing growth is at historic low.. Lets hope future ll b brighter..
Agreed. Entire Indian polity was pretty biased toward socialism at that time. The second biggest political power after congress was leftist parties.

Also after worldwar ended soviet model was very attractive and was growing fast while western Europe was shattered. The limits of socialism only became apparent by 1970-80 when PSU have failed to generate wealth and five years plans only generated more bureaucracy.

That's where we failed again rather than opening we doubled down with bank nationalisation and more inspector Raj.

Chinese opened up in 1978 and we did only at 1991. And we are still trailing china on same curve. In 2019 we are a 3 trillion dollars economy china was already 3 trillion in 2006-7 . Exactly 13 years difference.

Obviously, you know nothing about South Korea economic background after 1945.
Firstly, there was no Korean private capital or big companies before 1945. All of them belonged to Japanese. After WW2, these capital and corporations were confiscated by Korea government. Later, these were sold or given cheaply to Koreans who were not involved with Japanese during colonial period.

Again, incorrect example because CCP did even worse than Nehru: they wipe out the whole capitalist class.

Both South Korea and China proved one thing: In order to build an independent and prosperous country, the first step is making sure your own capital (private and national) serves your country's interest, if it doesn't, destroy them and build a new one.
This sounds like a whole lot of bullshit since both china and Korea have become wealthy by absorbing huge western capital in manufacturing and electronics sectors .

And Korean allowed far more free movement for foreign capital than chinese resulting in Korean per capita GDP is 3 times higher than chinese.

Chandrayaan 2: NASA helping ISRO establish communication with lander Vikram

The US space agency’s DSN operator Richard Stephenson also confirmed that the network is helping secure a communication link with the lander

National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is sending radio signals to Vikram lander, reports news agency IANS. The move will help Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) establish communication with Chandrayaan 2’s moon lander Vikram and rover Pragyan housed inside it.

ISRO is making all possible efforts to re-establish contact with Vikram, which has a mission life of one lunar day. One lunar day equals to 14 earth days.

According to the report, ISRO is trying to establish the link with the lander with its Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) at Byalalu near Bengaluru.

Astronomer Scott Tilley, who found American weather satellite IMAGE in 2018 that was considered to be lost, said NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN) has been beaming the radio frequency to the lander.

As #NASA #DSN operator @nascom1 mentioned yesterday on Twitter, the effort being made to communicate is standard procedure after an anomalous mission event like this. While there is always hope and that drives the search the prognosis of hearing from #VikramLander is not good.

— Scott Tilley (@coastal8049) September 13, 2019

His station will continue to monitor for signals from the lander as long as the DSN continues to search for it, said the amateur astronomer. However, he added that chances of his amateur station hearing a potential signal from Vikram are slim.

The US space agency’s DSN operator Richard Stephenson also confirmed on Twitter that the network is helping secure a communication link with the lander.

To demonstrate just how important the @NASA Deep Space Network is to other agencies requiring a communications link to their spacecraft outside of Earth's atmosphere . We are currently supporting 2 x @isro and 2 x @esa missions. pic.twitter.com/Fr9RcAxIEx

Earlier, the US space agency had reportedly said it will share before and after images of the location where the moon lander made a hard-landing.

"NASA will share any before and after flyover imagery of the area around the targeted Chandrayaan-2 Vikram landing site to support analysis by ISRO," NASA's spokesman told The New York Times.

ISRO has so far not released any images of Vikram's landing site. Besides Chandrayaan 2's own orbiter, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is also revolving around Moon. NASA’s orbiter is scheduled to pass over the region on September 17.

The naivety of you and most of Indian friends here is assuming that India private companies would acted from good intentions and purely based on India's national interest in the early stage. Just have a look at what happened in South East Asia, South America and Africa, the private capital over there continued to work closely with their foreign partners/masters after national independence at the cost of their homeland. After all, that was the business model that they were built from the beginning.
No one is stupid enough to rely on good intentions of private companies. They can be expected to work in their interests and their behavior controlled by smart regulations. On the other hand, there is little check on governments in comparison.

The economic exploitation you mention was carried out by private companies but enabled by corrupt governments.

NASA lunar probe to fly over landing site tomorrow, may shed new light on Vikram lander

NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is also likely to release the images that it takes of the lander, the US media reported.

Chinese comments on Chandrayaan 2 mission:

For a first time mission, it was very complex and involved too much maneuvers.

But this fake fact peddled by China to show Indian lack of technology was not surprising:

Considering the Russian technologies utilized in both the lander and the rover, the implementation of that research became more challenging.

An interesting take

The idea of an Indian scientific mission to the Moon was first mooted in 1999 during a meeting of the Indian Academy of Sciences. Later, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) set up the National Lunar Mission Task Force which made recommendations for India’s first moon mission, which was approved by the government in October 2003. This led to the launch of Chandrayaan-1, India’s first moon mission on 25 October 2008. The mission included a lunar orbiter and an impactor and remained operational till August 2009. While the mission ended a year before schedule, the pathbreaking work done for Chandrayaan-1 laid the foundation for the launch of Chandrayaan-2.
