ISLAMABAD: Unprovoked firing from the Indian side on the Line of Control (LoC) near Rawalkot killed one Pakistani solider and critically injured another, Express News reported on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident took place at 10:30am and there was no evident reason for the firing.
Asim Iqbal, the soldier who died due to the firing incident, was a resident of a village near Rawalpindi.
Naik Muhammad Khan, the soldier who is critically injured will undergo treatment.
A statement from the foreign office in Islamabad read that Pakistan strongly condemned the firing, stating it is unfortunate that such an incident should have taken place at a time when the two governments are making sincere efforts toward improving relations for resolving mutual disputes.
Pakistan government has called upon the Indian government to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and ensure that such occurrences did not take place.
A statement by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Indian border security forces had resorted to unprovoked firing on the working boundary near Sialkot on Saturday evening.
The statement said that no loss of life had been reported.
Pakistan troops responded effectively to Indian firing, it said.
This is not the first instance of unprovoked hostility from the Indian army.
On June 18, Indian troops opened fire on a small village in Kotli town along the LoC, injuring a 65-year old woman.
On June 19, a Pakistani girl was killed when Indian troops opened fire across the de facto border that divides disputed Kashmir.

They violated ceasefire 5 times in July.
But when in the process of giving cover fire to infiltrators one of their men is killed they will go around the world shouting Indians forces killed our man.
Typical response.

Only one soldier killed? Bah. What a disappointment. Why did the guy die? Was his state of mind wrong? Or was he not martial race enough?

Pakistan violates ceasefire, firing along LoC in Poonch

This is fifth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in July this year.

Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by targeting Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district with RPGs and heavy machine guns on Saturday morning, leading to a heavy exchange of fire.

"Pak troops have targeted Indian posts by firing rocket propelled grenades (RPGs) and heavy machine guns along the LoC in Doda Battalion forward area in Poonch district since 0730 hours today," a senior Army officer said.

There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing, he said.

Senior Army officials were monitoring the situation following the incident and troops have been asked in other forward areas to intensify round the clock vigilance.

The firing triggered panic among the people in the area, especially in Shahpur Kerni forward belt in Poonch where it stretched for five hours.

This is fifth ceasefire violation in July this year. On July 3, Pakistan violated the ceasefire, with firing on policemen who were at the LoC to retrieve the body of a Pakistani intruder in Sabzian, Poonch. Pakistani troops similarly fired on troops trying to evacuate injured porters after two were killed in IED attack by Pakistani militants along LoC in Poonch on July 8.

On July 12, Pakistani Rangers fired on Indian forward posts in Pindi belt along International Border (IB) in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani troops opened small arms firing on Indian posts in forward area along LoC in Poonch district at on the night of July 22.

A pathetic attempt by Pakis to increase terrorism even when their own ass is on fire.

Good job by IA... make use of Paki terrorists for target practice as Pakis seems to be happy to volunteer so much.
