Colonel should be forgiven by sentencing minimum punishment.

It is true that he should be forgiven, given that he is an army man, he should take the minimum punishment like a man and absolve himself of his indiscretions. I don't think giving him a total slide sets a good precedent. Kudos to him for his honesty though.

they might be having who knows. having affair is something different than getting into trap.

from his pt of view its the safest bet- get along with a foreigner, then leaving her wont b a problem. even his wife wont get to know.
so many officers on foreign trips fell in such traps.
