.............................................
This config makes BMP as a very narrow specialised Vehicle / carrier fit only for firing a missile. They should have thought of retaining the turret and Cannon or Gun so that the platform could be used as potent A/Pers base. The missile pod can be fixed on the turret or sides as in many vehicles the world over.

NAMICA in this configuration is only an ATK plategorm. What all missile platforms or teams invariably require is mixture of Atk and A/pers system so that the carrier is not charged into by dismounted infantry or ambushes by HHMTs. Even in a fire base the carrier will remain only an Atk platform.

It can be argued that NAMICA will also carry one LMG / MMG detachment inside the body who can dismount and then fire. However, firing capability from inside the carrier is far better to save response time as also provide security to the firers. Otherwise why go inside a hull just to travel. If security and protection is not the issue then mount launcher on TATA Safary - why BMP ?

Army punishes Lt General on retirement day over allegations of misusing govt funds
The Lt General had allegedly misused government funds for buying equipment worth over Rs 10 lakh for personal
After the complaints reached Army headquarters, a high-level Court of Inquiry headed by a Principal Staff Officer of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat was ordered.

The Indian Army has punished a Lieutenant General after allegations of corruption were levelled against him for misusing government funds.

"The Lt Gen was awarded a censure after a Court of Inquiry probed allegations of misuse of government funds for buying equipment worth Rs 10 lakhs for personal use," defence sources said here.

The officer was awarded the punishment on the day of his retirement from service last month, the sources said.

The case against the officer started after a Court of Inquiry was ordered by the Army Headquarters under a senior Lieutenant General to probe the corruption charges against the officer after complaints were received that he had misused government funds for buying equipment worth over Rs 10 lakh for personal use.

After the complaints reached Army headquarters, a high-level Court of Inquiry headed by a Principal Staff Officer of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat was ordered.

PSOs are the senior most Lt Gens in the Army posted at the headquarters for assisting the Army Chief in day to day functioning of the force.

Ever since Gen Bipin Rawat has taken over as the Chief of the Indian Army, he has clearly told officers and personnel that there would be no tolerance against moral turpitude and financial corruption in the force.

Several officers have also been dismissed from service and retired without pension after they were indicted in cases of corruption and moral turpitude.

Indian Army to raise 3 battle formations along Pakistan border by October

The new battle formations will also come up on the China border after they are successfully tested and established

Photo: PTI
Soon after carrying out the Balakot airstrikes, Indian Army is now going to create more trouble for the adversary on the western borders as three new integrated battle groups will come up on the Pakistan border giving it the capability to carry out swift strikes.

"The Indian Army has carried out successful test of the new integrated battle group concept which will be a battle formation with heavy firepower including armoured, infantry and all other war fighting capabilities. We are going to raise three of these formations by October this year," top army sources said here.

According to sources, the proposal has been cleared at the army headquarters level after a detailed discussion and will now be sent to the defence ministry for final approval.

The new battle formations will also come up on the China border after they are successfully tested and established on the front with Pakistan.

The integrated battle groups have been created with the aim of getting ability to move troops and equipment swiftly and stealthily into the enemy territory at short notice even before the enemy gets ready to tackle the trust. Integrated Battle Groups (IBG) will be smaller, meaner, self-contained fighting units of the Indian Army comprising elements of air power, artillery, amour etc.

As against the somewhat antiquated fighting formation of corps - each comprising 8-10 brigades, with a brigade having 3-4 battalions of 800 fighting men each - an IBG is likely to have just about 6 battalions.

This is helicopter missile. Also, it is specific to Mi35. How do you expect NAG to be used here?

Nada Sir.
You did not see the video. It showed missile being fired from Mi-24, Mi-35, Mi-8 and froma BMP type carriers as also ground launched.

NAG is a system of Systems which has its own seeker, own launcher unit, own tracker and own system to be integrated with helmet mounted sights.

Nag is - buy my goat, my leash, my dagger, my bowl, my salt and my spices if one wishes to eat it.

Sir jee , Simply you don't like the NAMICA , what you're expecting is a IFV , that have 4 Missile Launcher and a 30mm or 20mm Cannon , either wheeled or tracked

Truth is DRDO or OFB Can't make such platforms, they still live in thier 1970's , so learn to live in 1970's not in 2020

Anyway I agreed , Just a Missile carrier platform is not gonna do any shit in future conflicts, as its attack range is limted to only 4000m or less , once it emptied or flanked by enemy's its nothing but a easy target without any self defense

what was army needed

What will babu's, Politicians, DRDO, OFB and Army decesion makers give

a repainted BMP 2 in the name of modernized and upgraded , okay might be changed the Large TV's to LCD dispayes, don't expect touch screens

My 2 cents , well duplicate post from mi 35 thread

So some of the IAF officials just secured a good package from Russia for their post retirement benefits , I've few questions for the idiotic IAF officers who made the deal and wasted around 200 cr

1. How many Mi 35 we have in service,
2. How long they are going to be in active service
3. Why we still buying a FLIR guided missile, which is so shit in current scenario
4. In what context IAF will use those Mi 35
5. What is the usage of Apache helicopters then

Is that Ataka missile import is much needed than modernizing the Bases in J&K to accomodate the Larger MKI planes,

I entirely agree. All ICV should have a cannon and four missile launching tubes then there is no need for a seperate NAMICA.

Otherwise NAMICA is just a dubba.
