Well, The Rhinemetal wheeled Gun and the Archer are the best there is according to me, had I been been given the ability to choose I would have gone for either one of these awesome systems any day ! Even better would have been the fact that we can produce something equivalent to these systems in-house and not some TOT from a foreign partner !

A unique design of ZUZANA 155 mm/45 caliber gun and turret makes it possible to implement the howitzer system almost on any existing MBT chassis as well as modified heavy wheeled chassis. DRDO is working on towed version..
Hopefully the T0T of 52cal which is shared with BEML may prove helpful in DRDO`s towed project..

and GOI neglecting artillery

The report seems to be a whistle blower guys. Come on.. no announcement, no decision on fund allocation and boom! we have a domestic artillery gun already? When did DRDO start going the Pakistani way? It is a hoax. L&T approached earlier for an indigenous challenge but was turned down as we all remember clearly. It has not been even months since the episode and sarkari dodos claim to have come up with something state of the art in such a short span of time? Impossible.

BEML chairman and managing director VRS Natarajan said they were the nodal processing agency for this gun, which would enhance the lethality of the defence forces. The gun is part of a technology transfer between a Slovakian company, DMD, and BEML to produce this high-precision gun for the Indian armed forces.

Natarajan said, "We have already been made a nodal processing agency for the 155mm, 52-caliber gun which is a state-of-the-art weapon to be inducted by India. We will produce and supply this to the defence forces. It's a technology transfer; India wants to go for a very upgraded tank which is faster, lighter and able to have a greater fire power with lethality."

Indeed a good move by MoD, instead of going behind the western for the high-tech, it is better they got something from a small country where you say will have a go. We will have access to all tech including the gun metal, so we can gain a lot even if it a decade old tech. there is always scope for only one and we got a good one.
