the one that you have shown is the Il-38N Equipped with the new Sea Dragon avionic suite, incorporating a new radar, a Forward looking infrared (FLIR) turret under the nose and an electronic intelligence (ELINT) system housed in a box-like structure mounted on struts above the forward fuselage.

P8i has only 1/5th of the Tu 142's Range and 1/2 of the speed.. Yes, it was quite expensive in maintaining the fleet and was not that impressive in performance as promised by the Russians..

This with mid air refuelling that was never provided.
