‘India Is A Space Superpower Now’: PM Modi Announces Successful Testing Of Made In India Anti-Satellite Missile

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (27 March) surprised the nation by announcing that he was going to share an important message at around 11.45 to 12.00 pm.

Soon after the Prime Minister posted the tweet, social media became rife with speculation and many recalling his demonetisation address over two years ago.

Some also speculated that the announcement could be related to national security as the Cabinet Committee on Security met earlier in the morning.

Prime Minister Modi’s address was slightly delayed and finally began at 12.24 pm.

He proudly proclaimed India as a space superpower by announcing that the nation’s scientists have successfully tested an anti-satellite missile system in the operation codenamed “Shakti”.

This operation involved the Indian scientists shooting down a lower earth orbit (LEO) satellite using a Made-In-India ASAT missile (Anti-Satellite missile) which shot down the satellite. The operation lasted for just three minutes.

With this, India joins an elite league of three nations namely the US, Russia and China.

During this address, Modi praised DRDO scientists and thanked everyone associated with the operation. He added that space has become a key part of India’s international relations.

Modi also assuaged the world community that the new weapon won’t be used offensively and is only designed for self defence. He also reiterated India’s commitment to peace.

“India should be able to stay ahead of times through technology and stay united to work towards the mission of peace and development”, added PM Modi.

Stick my thread. Whatever thread I created for uniting discussion is getting materialized.:peace:
I knew it this thread exsisted and you would be the happiest man to get a good traffic on the tread after 3 excruciating yrs...

Anyways bro , Badhaiyan !
Let's research some genuine space assets that need an ASAT up there transmission dish. Priority would be the outer space spies and the radar imaging ones...

Ok this answers a lot. Ab pics bhi dedo...

So just to summarise, a composite material light weight truster body, a mid section for come and navigation and the warhead from PDV for a kinetic kill....!

Damn good job...

PS: Which missile did they get the mid section from? None of our projectiles had any target even close to going that speed. When did we get such guidance capabilities... PDV ?

This is why this test is more important than we think it is!!!
========

Understand the context in which this ASAT test has been conducted. It is no different from the NPT/CTBT noose that the incumbents attempted to put round India's neck in the lead up to 1998. A Space NPT has been in the offing & they were trying to parcel India with it.

Yep, we narrowly escaped fucking space treaties. I remember reading repeated mention of India in ramjet and anti-SAT technology non proliferation literatures.

This clearly shows the benefit of indigenization of critical technologies...it's like making our own sundae with different flavours of our choice...plug and play only. :india:
