I concur with your assememnt. But India is slowly and surely making advances in science, military etc.
Making advance? Yes.

Enough for a permanent seat? No.

So, maybe india should try this again after 10 years.

if necessary, USA can set up a new organization and replace UN with it.
if necessary, either Russia or CHina can stop most solutions to most hotspots ,such as N.Korea and Iran, even without UN.

However, any of G4 so called, such as India, can do nothing ....

that is why G4 don't deserve veto.

China didn't deserve a place in the UN. It was kind of a compensation for getting raped, butchered and tortured by the Japanese.

Chinas record in the UN has to abstain from voting.

Problem is you forget the past. Just after you got the permanent seat from Taiwan, 45 million people lost their lives of hunger.

Chinas case is perfect of someone who becomes rich and powerful overnight and forgets its gory past.

No India has made good advances, and I think within next year or two we will be permanent members.
Let's see if china can use it's veto to stop us. I can assure u ccp won't have the guts to do so.

measured by power and economy,India in 1947 deserved a veto more than india in 2012.

after all ,in 1947, India had a bigger economy and industry base than any other country ,except USA,Soviet, UK, France,German ,Italy and Japan.

However, even S.korea,Spain, Canada,Brazil has a bigger economy and industry base than India....the list has become longer....

it is not necessary for China to stop India getting a veto at all......lot of someones else are eager to do so for China and other ones of P5,such as Italy, Pakistan,S.Korea,Argitina,Mexico....

India should deal with them first, before you talk stop from CHIna....

But all in the list is going to be way behind in a handful of years.

You can say what you want, India with its population that is hungry to get rich and working its way up cannot be stopped.

Remember we are only 10 years behind you.

I wish that you really believe that India is only 10 years behind CHIna....do you believe that in one decade,Indians can buy 18M auto every year?

I find a strange phenomemon that those indians ,who believe that India is only 10 years behind CHina, are ones that have never been to CHina.....

and those indians who have been to China all never say so ...hehehe

I have been to china.

If only auto sales can prove that, then id say India has a fair chance of 15-20 million annual car sales in 10 years time. In ten years India will be $4-5 trillion in nominal terms. Same as china today.

India will get 2/3 majority in the counsel to ratify it's constitution, after that nobody will be able to stop it. India is trying hard to get to the 2/3 votes. Indian
Actually wants close to 150 votes in the counsel so that it has an extremely strong case.

I don't understand why Chinese make such statements.

It is absolutely true that India is 10-15 years behind China. 10 years in some aspects, 15 in some - but the average is 10-15 years behind. It is simple mathematics - and those Chinese who don't accept/understand this, are just displaying their lack of arithmetic aptitude.

India sold around 4 million automobiles in 2011. The rate of growth of automobile industry in India - production as well as purchase - has been at 13-15 per cent, year on year. Now go on - apply this compounded rate of growth to the baseline figure of 4 million, and see when the figure of 18 million is touched. It isn't too tough.

hehe,

"automobiles" definited by Indian is a concept much more loose than one accepted by CHinese and other poeple outside India....hehe

"automobiles" definited by Chinese excludes 4-wheeled agriculture vehicles. last year, over 1 dozen million agriculture vehicles were sold in CHina.

However, "automobiles" definited by indian includes 4-wheeled agriculture vehicles

So, the shortcut for G4 is also to set up a new organization with G4 vetos, then replace UN with the new one.
In fact, USA just did so with Leagues of Nation,by setting up UN .

of course, the precondition of such effort is that G4 would be powerful enough to attract more followers than P5.

otherwise, even if G4 were allowed to own Vetos of UNSC,USA,CHina ,Russia and EU might set up a new organization with only 4 vetos( USA, Russia,CHina and EU),which would naturely take over most power and influence of UN and disable UNSC.

At that time, G4,including India, would find it were just a waste of energy and money to get such valueless vetos of UN...haha.

Who cares. Create a new one. Isn't china also looking to establish a new order as it sees itself as a bigger and bigger player? They want to replace the dollar with RMB!
Every country has its aspirations to play a greater role and have a greater say. India increased its voting rights in world bank. India is no different from China and vice versa.

Fact is, India is growing. Economically, militarily (with or without local production). It's population is increasin and in the years to come this population will be going even more all over the world (read west) so that the western countries can pay retirement benefits to its aged population. India will call some shots leveraging that.

BadGuy/Nosmoking,

Read up comments by Yusuf and Sukhish. You folks have really not commented on their observations. Do you accept that China was in far worse situation than India is now, when China was "allowed" into P5?
