India asks Russia to test fly FGFA

NEW DELHI: Ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Mos cow in December, India has asked Russia to allow IAF test pilots to fly its fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) to evaluate its capabilities.

"Flight-testing will help decide the way forward on the collaboration between the two countries on the FGFA. All options, ranging from an off-the-shelf purchase of 60-65 jets to joint production, are on the table," said a top defence ministry official on Friday.

The journalist who wrote this piece in the Economic Times in the link provided is as ignorant as a fookin door-knob! He's pasted the image of an American F-22 instead of the Russian PAK T-50! Jeeez! :facepalm:

good news, india need FGFA as fast it possible. Military standoff across chinese border once again proves their plan. So, fast induction procedure require for rafale and fgfa.

Chinese will also have their own version of pakfa. Buying from Russia offers no strategic advantage. Russia will not deliver these for at least another five years.

At present FGFA is reality for india. AMCA is stil in design phase, inducting f22 raptor is void, f35 is in development trial. Althrough british are inducting it soon but don't know about india's interest. So, for next 5 years FGFA is the craft india have to stick with.

btw which aircraft will you suggest? F35 or FGFA?
