By the way, it has been Israeli strategy since few decades, to demolish the moderate, more acceptable leadership/regimes in Arab nations, so as to allow extremist factions to take over (who are internationally isolated & unacceptable at world fora). This works for them.

I'm inclined to believe you, even though I'm certain I'll come up empty handed if I try to dig for direct evidence. (But then, isnt that the way its supposed to be?)

If you your hypothesis is correct, then you will realise that Israel hasn't exactly demolished the moderate regimes completely. They have given the upper hand to the extremists, but have left the moderate ones intact just enough so that both parties are locked in a long battle over power and control.

This would be the best arrangement in any war game, to make the enemu fight each other. But it is quite a feat of political and intelligence engineering to balace both side just enough to ensure neither side take the authorative upper hand.

Wish we could engineer something similar between the terrorist outfits. I dont care if we played the Shia vs Sunni card amongst them or inflame region wise sentiments, just make them murder each other on POK.

I think an attack against KSA would be good for India at general

Pakistan is a source of global terrorism. However to attack pakistan is more difficult than KSA, coz pakis have nukes, a bigger army, and a most war-experienced army than KSA.

Pak supplies the intelligence (ISI) and human material (af-pak border inhabitants) for global terrorism, while KSA supplies the money and ideology. It can neutralize the intelligence by taking away her the means (saudi money) and neutralize the human material by taking away them their reason which they battle for (saudi ideology).

So an attack against KSA will benefit India with more national security

The bad point is oil prices would increase a lot and this may affect the economy. But in other hand the expensive oil would force India to invest in alternative energy sources as the nuclear, renewable or to seek new hydrocarbon reserves in Indian territory. And this also is good.

I beg to differ on this. When war erupts, people flee from war zone, it's a natural tendency. What you have mentioned could be a post war scenario.

For example, during first gulf war, people who used to work in Iraq and Kuwait fled from their and returned to India. Most of them have never dared to visit those places again. I know few Indian families who have suffered due to Gulf war. A person who has seen war will not return to war torn country at any cost.

If you read the article, you will see they have given quite a few reasons. From what I could surmise (from within the article, and without), we have:

• Bandar's threat to unleash Chechen terrorists during the Winter Olympics;
• Russia losing its monopoly in the international energy trade if Syrian territory goes under hostile control;
• Tartus; and,
• A chance for sweet revenge for the Soviet-Mujahideen War in Afghanistan.
