I hope it does better than zircon and kinzhal, those are as effective as their nuclear powered cruise missile.

Kinzhal is just an air launched Iskander...

it has the same maneuverability as the ground launched version. It never was a ballistic missile but having a high-low adjustable trajectory.

The Zircon is a closely guarded secret... for good reason as they wouldn't want the propaganda bubble to burst.

Maybe that's why the ruskies have not been helpful as regards to Brahmos 2.. Guess India will scrap Brahmos 2

No need to know the entire capability... Just knowing how many seconds the scramjet engine functioned, would give us some Idea about how successful the test was...

Its ok to fail if you learn from it. It was the first test. I am ok with it. PSLV and GSLV had failures initially but people came back.

Agni 1 was not tested to full boost phase maybe. Anyway statement is clear enough that test was a success.

The boost phase does not count.. The article says HSTDV is designed to fly for 20 seconds.. The ISRO demonstration test ATV in 2016 involved the burn of scramjet engine for 5 seconds.. The record for scramjet burn, atleast until 2013, is held by x-51 waverider which is 210 seconds only.. So, I would say even if HSTDV functioned for only say 10 seconds, it is still a success.. I would wait for more details...The PTI article only says what HSTDV would be capable of, and not how the current test performance was...
