Hitler dismissed his last SS adjutant over an irritating fly

London: The last surviving member of Hitler's inner circle, who remained loyal to the Nazi dictator despite his absurd dismissal over an irritating fly, has passed away.

The last Schutzstaffel (SS) adjutant to Hitler, Fritz Darges, spent a lot of time with the German dictator during the Second World War.

Darges, who considered Hitler "warm-hearted", was forced to change his perception during one conference at Rastenburg on July 18, 1944, The Sun reports.

On that occasion, a fly began buzzing around the room, landing on Hitler's shoulder and on the surface of a map several times.

An irritated Hitler ordered Darges to "dispatch the nuisance".

Darges whimsically suggested that, as it was an "airborne pest", the job should go to the Luftwaffe staff officer, Nicolaus von Below.

Enraged, Hitler sacked Darges right there, yelling: "You're for the eastern front."

And so he was sent into combat.

But despite the dramatic end to his time with Hitler, he would still hear nothing against "the boss."

"We all dreamed of a greater German empire. That is why I served him and would do it all again now," he told a German newspaper before his death
