Having a Certain Practice, of Sports or Studies

I often made statements in Australia, "even the 50th ranked Australian swimmer may beat Indian top swimmer, there is no comparison between Australian swimmers, of 22 million population, as compare to Indian swimmers from 1.3 billion people." very very truthful statement, isn't it?

and my one friend once responded, even cricket team of our colony may defeat Chinese cricket team. (while talking about victory of Indian cricket team in world cup 2011.) true......

from here, even if you may secure 98% GATE, you won't get a seat for ME in IITs, even 99.5% in CAT was never a guarantee to get a seat in IIMA or IIMB, or even in IIMC . our one senior, Mr Manoj Dixit was teacher of a school of Australia, and we used to discuss that even syllabus of CBSC is harder than Australian syllabus. while even securing 85%+ in high school from Indian CBSC board doesn't put you on the front bench of your class in common Indian schools, like how we generally talk while referring kids of our relatives, when they come to our home

"IF YOU DO SOMETHING AS A SOCIETY, YOU ACHIEVE HIGHER SUCCESS IN THAT CERTAIN AREA, WHETHER ITS SWIMMING OR CRICKET OR STUDIES. AND IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING, YOU DON'T GET THE HIGH END IN THAT CERTAIN EXPERTISE."

if you do something, you do get expertise in that area, otherwise you can't sit in competition among those, who do that certain work/ that certain practice of sports or studies

for example of my last post, common youth of US/UK/Australia aren't aware of year long hard studies but missed the 'cut off' of different competitions/exams in India, nor you may even imagine to that level of competition while sitting in a bar of western nations . just leave talks about studies........

having a degree and being highly competent, are different issues. don't just look on those Indians who 'could' come to US, having high performing records in this thread. just look on those who 'couldn't' go to US, as they couldn't......... "traditionally", it was never easy to get a job with US's firms, who pay very high salary, mainly how we saw in 90s . neither it was so easy to get Green Card/ Permanent Visa of developed nations ........

Few Basics on this Topic
(here i do welcome other's ideas on this topic too.)

Its simple that, "Empowering People, whether Men or Women would mean it." you can't justify a "Free Society", only, means for Empowering them until you input "Character"/ "Sanskar" in them, definitely not . a 13-14 year old kid does only what his/her parents do, they generally follow their parents itself with taking their example. and without proper guidelines, they won't go on the right path of life .

everyone wants to have fun in life, nothing special the 'Free Society' of West like to do. and their labs are filled with hard working migrant professionals only, not by their own people. those who develop technologies and those who use it/ sell it/ do its business are belonging to two very different Cultural Backgrounds

It simply means, if you can't make your sons and daughter engineers, doctors, IAS, IPS etc, then how is it wise to let them go on the path of destruction?????

just don't justify that having more and more fun is meant for Empowering People, whether men or women . just come out of the bluff that only you want fun in life, but not others, as they aren't belonging to "Free Society", to have more and more fun in life . :tsk: everyone wants fun in life, but it requires very very hard work, with enough talent to achieve 'cut off' of any exam/ job, which is hard to understand by the Drug Addicted societies of Western Nations, until they face a real fall. when they will have to have their own people to build the industries from the bottom, and how to have that type of societies/ families which would be loyal enough to make proud kids to make a proud nation? winning WW1 and WW2, did kept them in the position to maintain flow of money, with die hard competition of high talents of rest of the world to go to US too. and yes, traditional family background, the West too had, which they have lost to an extent right now..... and it won't take a long for them to come out of effect of drinks/drugs, they are living in at present. just one proper economic fall is needed to see the ground reality

Indian MBA students world's most academically distinguished

BANGALORE: It is students from IIM-Bangalore, not from Harvard or Stanford or even MIT, who excel at GMAT, the entrance test for the creme de la creme of B-schools across the world. :truestory:

According to the QS Global 200 Business Schools report, Indian MBA candidates are the world's most academically distinguished, with students of the IIM-B, scoring the highest average of 780. IIM-B students are ahead of the leading US institution Stanford and INSEAD in Europe, the survey said.

While the average GMAT score of Stanford is 730, INSEAD lies at 704. Second to IIM-B students in GMAT score are their counterparts from IIM, Ahmedabad with 767.

The survey says, "IIM Ahmedabad is notable for the extraordinarily high average GMAT scores of its students, with its figure of 767 exceeded only by fellow Indian institution, IIM Bangalore (780). This places the two ahead of any North American or European school for the academic quality of their student intake. The fact that students enrolled at both schools have an average of just two years of professional experience underlines the tendency for academically gifted students to move quickly on to the MBA qualification at the outset of their careers, rather than using it to up-skill at mid career, as is more common in Europe and North America."

IIM-B also appears in the survey as one of the emerging global business schools across the world, overtaking Melbourne Business School.

"It is the testimony to high quality talent that our country has. It is no surprise that Indian students have outscored others from across the globe. What is needed now is the establishment of premier institutes like Harvard and Stanford in India as well, so that these young minds could express their intelligence in best possible manner. This is possible only when full autonomy is provided to the universities," said T V Mohandas Pai, chairman, Manipal Global Education Services.

"At the time of independence, our universities at Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Mysore and Baroda were among the top 200 in the world. Today, they do not fare in any ranking at all. This is the result of bad government policy. Full autonomy, independent board of governors and focus on research are the factors crucial for a good university," said Pai.

The colleges were also judged on different subjects under their programme. In corporate social responsibility, IIM-B ranked 21 among the top 50 business colleges across the globe, whereas IIM-A grabbed 19th rank.

When it comes to emphasis on start-ups and small businesses to kick-start private sector growth ( entrepreneurship), IIM-B ranked 25 and IIM-A ranked 17. Under 'innovation', IIM-B was placed at 17th with a score of 90.6, whereas IIM-A ranked 13, with a score of 97.4 out of 100. :ranger:

QS is an online and offline meeting place for aspiring managers, B-schools and businesses for career and educational -related decisions.

Many leaders in India

For the leadership development programme, four colleges from India feature among top 50 universities. They are: IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-C and Indian School of Business (ISB).

Highlights of the survey

Schools ranked for employer reputation in 10 subject specializations. Harvard tops the table in three subjects, ahead of Stanford and MIT with two apiece. Wharton is number one for finance

Three Asian schools make the Elite global category: INSEAD Singapore, IIM-A and NUS Business School, National University of Singapore

No Elite Global schools in either Africa and Middle East, or Latin America

@Ray

as in the above news, we find US's/UK's average GMAT score high mainly because of International Students getting admission there under scholarship program for high marks. but Im mainly surprised with INSEAD France, the only 700+ average GMAT score from Europe, without open immigration too :ranger:

There are too many Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palins.

Can't blame them.

They are the icons of their society inspite of way out opportunities and facilities.
Sir, you are way off the mark on that and I am surprised you let your political bias show to that extent.

The icons of the US criminal class are .... well, I'll let you think about it and then tell us. Hint: they are popular and associated with certain types of music.

Also, our friend santosh10 has been here before under another flag and at least 2 IDs which were banned.

I'll let our genius moderators figure that out, too.

High crime rate and amount of prisoners in the US are really making people wonder. I hope US can find a way to come closer to EU in those levels. That is everybody's wish.

US is already a world leader in rapes/robberies, but just have a look on the murder rate in US/Americas as below, a worse figure than even Africa. which better justify state of a country where 1% Americans have more wealth than the bottom 90% :ranger:

List of countries by intentional homicide rate

we also have Murder rate as below. here, India won't be said doing good in this picture, while comparing "Absolute Number" of murders as below :ranger:
=> India tops world murder count - The Times of India
Comparison based on per 100,000 (lakh) people

Total Murders in Welfare society of US = 16,692/ 3100 (100,000) = 5.38

Total Murders in non-Welfare society of India = 32,719/ 12500 (100,000) = 2.61

but we do have Pakistan from this region here to put a competition with South Africa in this picture as below:-

Thousands march against gun violence in Washington

(Reuters) - Thousands of marchers rallied in Washington in favor of gun control on Saturday, including residents of Newtown, Connecticut, where a mass elementary school shooting reignited the U.S. gun violence debate. :ranger:

Speakers - including Education Secretary Arne Duncan, lawmakers and actors - urged the protesters carrying such signs as "What Would Jesus Pack?" to lobby Congress and state legislators to back gun control measures.

Duncan, who said one student had died from guns every two weeks while he was chief executive of Chicago's public schools, denied that gun control was about limiting firearm rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Murders in that city last year rose to the highest level since 2008, according to police.

"This is about gun responsibility. This is about gun safety. This is about fewer dead Americans, fewer dead children, fewer children living in fear," Duncan said.

Organizers backed President Barack Obama's call for a ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines and background checks for all gun sales. They also urged safety training for all buyers of firearms.

Marchers stretched for several blocks along Constitution Avenue as they approached the rally site in the shadow of the Washington Monument.

Participants included politicians from Maryland and the District of Columbia, including Washington Mayor Vincent Gray, as well as actress Kathleen Turner and Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children's Defense Fund.

90-MINUTE RALLY

The protest came a week after gun rights supporters held rallies across the United States to oppose firearms control.

The 90-minute rally was organized by Molly Smith, artistic director of Washington's Arena Stage, and her partner, and co-sponsored by One Million Moms for Gun Control, an advocacy group.

One Million Moms organized similar events on Saturday in about a dozen cities, including San Francisco and Austin, Texas.

About 100 residents of Newtown and surrounding areas attended the rally and march down Constitution Avenue. A gunman killed 20 first-graders and six adults on December 14 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, and numerous speakers and marchers said that rampage had spurred them to act.

"It's difficult to get laws changed when politicians are bought out, but we have to start somewhere," said Amy Journo, 38, an occupational therapist whose two sons, ages 5 and 7, attended Sandy Hook.

"I want to ensure that they (children) are safer, not just my children but all across the United States," Journo said.

A spokesman for the U.S. Capitol Police declined to give an estimate of crowd size, citing department policy.

Obama's proposals, the most significant attempt at gun-control in decades, face an uphill battle in Congress. The proposals are strongly opposed by gun advocates, such as the powerful National Rifle Association.

The lobbying group has said that current laws need better enforcement, issues of mental health should be addressed and that tighter laws could not have prevented Newtown.

About 11,100 Americans died in gun-related killings in 2011, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were 19,766 suicides by firearms in 2011, the CDC said.

Gun culture in the US is a legacy of the Wild West days and predating them where the European settlers had to construct their homestead against the growing threat of the original Americans - the Red Indians.

Therefore, it a cultural thing close to their heart.

It cannot be given up so easily since it is also guaranteed by their Constitution, through the Amendments they talk about.

However, with the wanton and senseless massacres that are happening, to include wild children running a riot with hand guns and military automatics, better sense will prevail as more and more are massacred at the altar of the American's comfort zone - the gun!

I am sure there will come a day when the US will be a relatively safe place with some sort of gun control, so that the wild ones do not get a chance to go on a rampage.

The worst part is that after a massacre, the PC crowd tries to cover up with idiotic Goody Two Shoes liberal nonsense that the child came from a broken home, was psychiatric and other claptrap.

Spare the rod and spoil the child.

@Ray Sir,

The Amendment you talked about, the 2nd Amendment (Bill of Rights) was supposedly included so that Americans can wage a war against their government if it becomes a tyranny. That is what George Washington did, but then, both the sides were equally matched, with muskets, etc.. However, this right has been neutered in various ways. They have disallowed fully automatics, and made it illegal to even point your weapon at a federal agent (agent, even if a land management agent seizes your cattle), doesn't have to be a cop.

So, what is left is that the risk of the gun landing in wrong hands is there, but the benefits of the citizens being empowered are being eroded away.

U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people

Weapons for sale at a gun show near West Point, Kentucky, April 9, 2005. The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.

(Reuters) - The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.

U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.

About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.
@W.G.Ewald
"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said. :ranger:

India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.

Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.

On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

France, Canada, Sweden, Austria and Germany were next, each with about 30 guns per 100 people, while many poorer countries often associated with violence ranked much lower. Nigeria, for instance, had just one gun per 100 people.

"Firearms are very unevenly distributed around the world. The image we have of certain regions such as Africa or Latin America being awash with weapons -- these images are certainly misleading," Small Arms Survey director Keith Krause said.

"Weapons ownership may be correlated with rising levels of wealth, and that means we need to think about future demand in parts of the world where economic growth is giving people larger disposable income," he told a Geneva news conference.

The report, which relied on government data, surveys and media reports to estimate the size of world arsenals, estimated there were 650 million civilian firearms worldwide, and 225 million held by law enforcement and military forces.

Five years ago, the Small Arms Survey had estimated there were a total of just 640 million firearms globally.

"Civilian holdings of weapons worldwide are much larger than we previously believed," Krause said, attributing the increase largely to better research and more data on weapon distribution networks.

Only about 12 percent of civilian weapons are thought to be registered with authorities.

Two things :

a) Being highly armed doesn't imply high rate of crime or accident. Switzerland also is a very highly armed nation and yet has a drastically low rate of gun crime or gun accidents.
Why? Difference in the two cases lies is the culture by which the society involves with Guns. They way it happens in US is a bit reckless and pompuous (indicates tensions); Swiss OTOH do it in a lot more disciplined and consistently regulated manner.

b) Having high rate of crime in the records doesn't always mean the place is relatively more violent. It may also mean that they record the crime at much higher rate than others - where it goes sans FIR most of the times. No report, no crime.

Virendra

Hindu-Americans Rank Top in Education, Income

Hindu-Americans have the highest socioeconomic levels among all religions in the United States, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life.

Experts say U.S. immigration policy is the main reason Hindus do so well.

Both the 1965 Immigration Act and the more recent H1-B visa program set the table for Hindus to succeed. The former encouraged the immigration of professionals, particularly doctors and engineers, while the latter was designed to encourage the immigration of highly skilled guest workers.

The number of H1-B visas issued to Indians grew steadily in the late 1990s and early 2000s and then spiked again in 2007. In 2011, according to the study, India accounted for more than half of all the H1-B visas granted.

The education capital of this group is phenomenal, said Khyati Joshi, an associate professor at the Fairleigh Dickinson School of Education in Teaneck, New Jersey.

The Pew study, titled “Asian Americans: A Mosaic of Faiths, bears that out, and the numbers are staggering.

Eighty-five percent of Hindu-Americans are college graduates, and 57 percent have some postgraduate education, which is nearly five times the national average.

Education levels largely correlate to income, and there as well, Hindus rank at the top of the list.

According to the study, 48 percent of Hindu-American households have an income of $100,000 or more, and 70 percent make at least $75,000.
:ranger:

Another, secondary driver for the success of Hindus can be traced back to India's caste system, according to Prema Kurien, a professor of sociology and the director of the Asian/Asian American Studies Program at Syracuse University in New York.

Hindu migrants to the U.S. are largely from upper caste backgrounds, she said. Upper castes have had a long history of socioeconomic and educational advantage in India. :ranger:

According to Alan Cooperman, the associate director for research for the study, the success of Hindus stems from the type of person that chooses to leave India and who the U.S. admits. This, he said, is quite different from other immigrant groups, where there are often high numbers of refugees or undocumented immigrants.

This is the first time anybody has had good data on [Hindus], said Cooperman. “Hindus are a fascinating group.

Indian Americans: The New Model Minority - Forbes
02.24.09

The 2008 election barely ended before the GOP began touting the presidential prospects of Louisiana Gov. Piyush "Bobby" Jindal, the son of Indian immigrants. Tuesday, Jindal becomes the new face of his party when he delivers the official Republican response to President Obama's speech to Congress. Whether or not he actually runs for president in 2012, Jindal symbolizes a remarkable but rarely discussed phenomenon--the amazing success of Indian Americans in general, and what that success says about our immigration policy.

Most Americans know only one thing about Indians--they are really good at spelling bees. When Sameer Mishra correctly spelled guerdon last May to win the 2008 Scripps National Spelling Bee, he became the sixth Indian-American winner in the past 10 years. Finishing second was Sidharth Chand. Kavya Shivashankar took fourth place, and Janhnavi Iyer grabbed the eighth spot. And this was not even the banner year for Indian Americans--in 2005, the top four finishers were all of Indian descent.

It's tempting to dismiss Indian-American dominance of the spelling bee as just a cultural idiosyncrasy. But Indian success in more important fields is just as eye-catching. Despite constituting less than 1% of the U.S. population, Indian-Americans are 3% of the nation's engineers, 7% of its IT workers and 8% of its physicians and surgeons. The over-representation of Indians in these fields is striking--in practical terms, your doctor is nine times more likely to be an Indian-American than is a random passerby on the street.

Indian Americans are in fact a new "model minority." This term dates back to the 1960s, when East Asians--Americans of Chinese, Japanese and Korean descent--were noted for their advanced educations and high earnings.

East Asians continue to excel in the U.S, but among minority groups, Indians are clearly the latest and greatest "model." In 2007, the median income of households headed by an Indian American was approximately $83,000, compared with $61,000 for East Asians and $55,000 for whites. :ranger:

About 69% of Indian Americans age 25 and over have four-year college degrees, which dwarfs the rates of 51% and 30% achieved by East Asians and whites, respectively. Indian Americans are also less likely to be poor or in prison, compared with whites.

So why do Indian Americans perform so well? A natural answer is self-selection. Someone willing to pull up roots and move halfway around the world will tend to be more ambitious and hardworking than the average person. But people want to come to the U.S. for many reasons, some of which--being reunited with other family members, for example--have little to do with industriousness. Ultimately, immigration policy decides which kinds of qualities our immigrants possess.

Under our current immigration policy, a majority of legal immigrants to the U.S. obtain green cards (permanent residency) because they have family ties to U.S. citizens, but a small number (15% in 2007) are selected specifically for their labor market value. The proportion of Indian immigrants given an employment-related green card is one of the highest of any nationality. Consequently, it is mainly India's educated elite and their families who come to the U.S.

The success of Indian Americans is also often ascribed to the culture they bring with them, which places strong--some would even say obsessive--emphasis on academic achievement. Exhibit A is the spelling bee, which requires long hours studying etymology and memorizing word lists, all for little expected benefit other than the thrill of intellectual competition.

But education and culture can take people only so far. To be a great speller--or, more importantly, a great doctor or IT manager--you have to be smart. Just how smart are Indian Americans? We don't know with much certainty. Most data sets with information on ethnic groups do not include IQ scores, and the few that do rarely include enough cases to provide interpretable results for such a small portion of the population.

The only direct evidence we have comes from the 2003 New Immigrant Survey, in which a basic cognitive test called "digit span" was administered to a sample of newly arrived immigrant children. It is an excellent test for comparing people with disparate language and educational backgrounds, since the test taker need only repeat lengthening sequences of digits read by the examiner. Repeating the digits forward is simply a test of short-term memory, but repeating them backward is much more mentally taxing, hence a rough measure of intelligence.

When statistical adjustments are used to convert the backward digit span results to full-scale IQ scores, Indian Americans place at about 112 on a bell-shaped IQ distribution, with white Americans at 100. 112 is the 79th percentile of the white distribution. For more context, consider that Ashkenazi Jews are a famously intelligent ethnic group, and their mean IQ is somewhere around 110. :ranger:

Given the small sample size, the rough IQ measure and the lack of corroborating data sets, this finding of lofty Indian-American intelligence must be taken cautiously. Nevertheless, it is entirely consistent with their observed achievement.

The superior educational attainment, academic culture and likely high IQ of Indian Americans has already made them an economic force in the U.S., and that strength can only grow. :truestory: Does this continuing success imply they will become a political force? Here, Gov. Jindal is actually a rarity. Indians are still underrepresented in politics, and they do not specialize in the kinds of fields (law and finance) most conducive to political careers. Time will tell if they are able to convert economic power into serious political influence, as a Jindal presidency could.

A much clearer implication of Indian-American success is that immigrants need not be unskilled, nor must their economic integration take generations to achieve. In sharp contrast to Indian Americans, most U.S. immigrants, especially Mexican, are much less wealthy and educated than U.S. natives, even after many years in the country.

A new immigration policy that prioritizes skills over family reunification could bring more successful immigrants to the U.S. By emphasizing education, work experience and IQ in our immigration policy, immigrant groups from other national backgrounds could join the list of model minorities.

There is nothing inevitable about immigration. Who immigrates each year is a policy decision, free to be modified at any time by Congress. Constructing new legislation is always difficult, but I propose a simple starting point for immigration selection: Anyone who can spell guerdon is in! :thumb:

Indians account for 20% of Britain's ultra-rich club
June 19, 2012

Super-rich Indians account for more than 20% of the wealth of ultra-high net worth (UHNW) individuals in Britain, a new list showed on Tuesday. As a national group, they are second only to expat Russians. :ranger:

The list, published by the Singapore-based Wealth-X group, places steel magnate and ArcelorMittal chairman Lakshmi Mittal at second place with a fortune of $15.8 billion. Mittal was pushed to the second spot this year by Russian Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov, who is part owner of the English football club Arsenal and is worth $16.4 billion.

"Mittal has seen his net worth estimate decline along with the stock price of ArcelorMittal, losing at least $30 billion in recent years," the report said.

The two other Indians on the top 15 list are the Hinduja brothers — Srichand at number 9 with a net worth of $7.6 billion and Gopichand at 12th with $6 billion.

Taken together, the wealth of the three Indian-origin industrialists makes up 22% of the top 15 total of $133.3 billion.

Apart from Usmanov, the two other Russians in the list include Roman Abramovich (at number 3, $12.1 billion) and Leonard Blavatnik (Number 5, $9.5 billion).

According to Wealth-X estimates, there are 10,760 individuals residents in Britain worth $30 million or more, with at least 310 new individuals joining the ranks of the ultra wealthy. On an average, Britain has added one UHNW individual every day since 2011. The combined wealth of the UHNW in Britain stands at an estimated $1.3 trillion.

"The wealth composition of the United Kingdom, London in particular, is diverse," said David Lincoln, Director of Research at Wealth-X. "This is reflected in our data showing that 31% of the UHNW population in the United Kingdom is considered non-domiciled, with non-resident Indians and West AsianUHNWIs making up a significant proportion of these."

State of the nationreport: poverty, worklessness andwelfare dependencyin the UK

Risk of poverty is unevenly spread in terms of region, ethnicity, household structure and disability status. Over half (52%) of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are in relative poverty, while children living in families with at least one disabled member have a 29% chance of living in poverty, compared with 20% for those living in families with no disabled member. The additional costs associated with (Religious) disability mean that a narrow focus on incomes does not fully capture the levels of disadvantage experienced.

No report, no crime.

and thats why we generally compare "Incarceration Rate" in this regard, as discussed below, in the post#9 :thumb:

India and USA about the same.
Remember this. Crime statistics are often better indicators of prevalence of law enforcement and willingness to report crime, than actual prevalence. :tsk:
@Ray

hmmmm, first about your first post, what's the credibility of the report you have? we generally give example of 6-7 Oscars for "Slum Dog Millionaire" movie in this regard, say wrong for a country like India and get rewarded in US/West

from here, do you think, the crimes like murders, rapes, robberies aren't reported in India? do you think people here don't have identity cards, that if they are missing or are part of major crimes, then police can't approach them?

and thats why I generally force to consider "Incarnation Rate" in this regard. as Im told that in developing countries, speeding/parking on the wrong places doesn't count much while its also a registered crime in US/Australia, true. but you may hardly lose your driving license or pay fine in this case, i argue. even if you are caught with limited amount of drugs in Australia for personal uses, its not a punishable crime for the first few incidents.....

A crime mainly means for its seriousness. as you do know that if you are caught with smuggling of drugs, for example, then you would get at least 14 years+, similar to murders-rapes type crime in Australia....... from here, just dont put shiits in this thread while discussing that serious crimes like murders, rapes, robberies, smuggling have lesser punishment in India as compare to US/West

in fact, to discuss something healthy, first you need to come out of the "analysis" of these Western Ranking which are always intended to hide wrong of OECD economies, while keep rewarding Oscar type prices for any source of media who may do wrong publicity about a developing country like India :tsk:

A Crime mainly Means for its Seriousness

and i repeat, "Incarceration Rate is the best way to measure Crime Rate as we do know that long term imprisonment is applicable to serious crimes only. means, if there were few fighting on the streets then you would be released within days if no serious injuries. but if someone died, or someone was raped, then obviously you would go for a very long."

its so simple that, there might be so many driving offenses which can result is penalty only in most of cases, while a crime does means for its seriousness, like robberies/ murders/ serious assaults/ rape/ drugs smuggling etc....... even having small amount of drugs for personal use isn't a punishable offense in Australia, but smuggling drugs does means for 10years+ imprisonment, and here we mainly look on the Incarceration Rate comparison.

as we do know that even if many types of small crimes go unpunished in a developing country, like driving offenses etc, the major crimes like murders/rapes/robberies can't go unnoticed as we do have proper identities of civilians/IDs of people in developing countries like India/Indonesia/ Philippines/Vietnam type countries, and here we again find "Incarceration Rate" comparison of our interests :thumb:

Retired NBA star Charles Barkley spoke candidly Thursday about the struggles black people face to fit in with each other, arguing that blacks "are brainwashed to think, if you're not a thug or an idiot, you're not black enough."

"We as black people are never going to be successful, not because of you white people, but because of other black people," he said in a Philadelphia radio interview, The Birmingham News reported. "When you are black, you have to deal with so much crap in your life from other black people."
