With 200 Kamov cost finalised and LUH still no where..... Will Kamov become LUH killer.....
Nope, kamov and LUH serve different purposes.

Kamov is to carry loads in rarified atmosphere.

LUH is replacement for Chetak.

What is taking so long for both Ka-226 and LUH? Safran helicopter division is waiting to start production of 1000 engines for India but these contracts keep getting held up. I know India needs these helicopters years ago. This is intolerable.

Actually Kamov 226T is the name of LUH made by Russia....
So I believe the roles must be identical.....

This was funny to me.....

Can you Please elaborate on the roles you stressing upon??

My understanding is that twin rotor blades are good for carrying underslung loads with stability. Kamov 226T primarily be used in Northern & eastern front for transporting material.

Those are just lame excuses given by the AF to justify such meaningless imports. Offcourse EVERY Helicopter in the world is not the same. EVERY Jet in the world is not the same.....etc..etc.
Does not mean you keep buying EVERYTHING and say its for "different purposes".

Both has exact same underslung payload. So that excuse is bogus moreover if twin was such a priority why they even went for alouette's ?

Nothing but hogwash.

Second engine gives extra safety over north eastern valley where sudden depth and rise is very difficult for helis to navigate and helicopters loose altitude faster. We have lost quite a few helis in North East.

I'm too baffled by this deal but my guess is the reasons are two fold one I stated above and the other is too have two light Heli supply lines to supply 500 helis asap. And then more as demand rises.

Ka-226T and LUH will fulfill the light utility demand by both #IndianArmy and #IAF 135 Ka-226T will go to army and air force will get 65 Whereas reported 126 LUH will be acquired by army and 61 by air force .
This is one of the two cases (the other one being Sig-716) where I won't defend Indian tech for being Indian... The Ka-226 is indeed far better than LUH in every parameters, with dual engines & double lifting.
No point buying inferior equipment for the sake of indigeneous.

I know its full form but what additions are required for FOC???
IOC - Flight worthiness. Certify the ac to be use by service and pilots other than test engg/pilots.,
FOC - Any additional equipment other than flying like EO Pod/weapons, usually reserved for fighting platform.

Helicopters are usually inducted with IOC and doesn't require FOC.

LCH will... Heard that insect was supposed to get FOC in Defexpo 20 too. Could you dig up anything?

Surprisingly sparse presence of aircrafts in this defexpo, don't you think?
