You can say that, for a short term perspective.
Yes, for short term, but given the historical track record of Indo-Iranian ties, it is safe to assume it could be long term as well.

But by giving Iran a life line you're also helping them create their nuke. The latter in the long term is what will hound us all (including India, just pray that the Mullahs that India is supporting last forever) especially when the whole of the Arab World arm themselves as well...
Well, perhaps. But we are not buying oil to 'help them create their nukes' but because 'we need oil.' No, we'd rather Iran does not have the nuke (Ejaz and Yusuf have already mentioned that), but then we would be more worried about Pakistan than Iran, even if both had nukes. Also, apropos the long term relationship with KSA, going back their past record, it is difficult to make such a big assumption.

Like I said UN my previous post, no matter how hard you try, sanctions, oil embargoes or whatever, I they have decided to make the bomb, they will.
Actually there's a very good logic to this sanctions regime (with India on board):

Iran will seriously reconsider if India already voices disagreement with its nuclear program, and actually follow it up with oil embargo. And even if Iran will not immediately relent then I'm sure sooner or later Iran will lash out at the West and its neighbors (due to economic pains and enforced isolation) and it will make some stupid move like mining the Hormuz. Then the military coalition forming around Iran can now make their move and game over for their nuke program (and the regime)... a thermo nuclear Middle East will be averted.

On the contrary, that's exactly what's the economic and diplomatic cover that India is now providing Iran is going to lead to.

Call it collateral damage if you will. We always have collateral damage and thousands of civilians are killed and maimed, accidentally, in the occidental quest of spreading freedom and democracy. ;)

The ultimate beneficiary of a nuclear Iran are the mullahs in Iran. :toilet:
