Instead of making a statue for sardar Patel they should have made one honouring Bharat Mata.

With left controlling our text books and opinion at large, in 20 years time Patel may be projected as great secular like Nehru and Sonia Gandhi.

Whereas Bharat Mata is a timeless idea.
The Iron man of India had played an important role in unifying India. Without him we would have been 540 odd little nations worth nothing.

He is definitely one of the most under rated freedom fighters.

Along with building the statue, BJP should revive his legacy in unifying India.

I have hopes on Pak, but Bangla will not join.
Half of Bangladesh is already living inside India. But we should attempt unifying Sindh in future. Balochstn can be made as a Bhutan, wherein its security is exclusivly mantained by India. That is my long term vision. :tongue2:

If we play our cards right, then Baloch, Sindh and some of Paki Punjab (I want till Nankana Sahib and few km surrounding it will become ours I don't care if Afghan or Iran takes rest. But we'll have to wage a war. A quick short war, capturing from Gwadar(or Karachi at least) to Islamabad. No Nuke facility to be left out. Keep the whole country under control ( for at least a year or two, though two yrs would be asking for too much) in the name of dismantling Nuke facilities.

This is I want

The health ministry is scrambling to avert a possible stock-out of the injectable inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) amid a global supply shortage and a decision by Sanofi, vaccine maker and the sole IPV supplier to the Indian government, to revise prices.

A stock-out would mean the government would be forced to temporarily stop immunising infants with IPV, a vaccine critical to maintaining India’s polio-free status and introduced in the public immunisation programme in 2015.

The IPV does not carry the risks of vaccine-associated polio paralysis or vaccine-derived polioviruses that come with the oral poliovirus vaccine. It’s a key tool in the global polio eradication effort.

Sanofi has the IPV’s price under a uniform worldwide price revision. The price for India, among other countries, is to increase from the current 0.75 euro (Rs 61) to 1.81 euros (Rs 147) per dose in 2019, and to 2.18 euros (Rs 177) per dose from 2020 through 2022, according to a Unicef document.

This is from the article. Cost allocation was ok but the vaccine price rose along with possibility of stock out. Can't blame the government.

But here is the point, if our union budget is over $300 billion, how is it we need to beg for aid??

The statue is a moot point here, it was inserted in the article for anto-government propaganda..

Just like we give line of credit to other countries to buy Indian products, similarly there is probably a line of credit for using this particular company’s products.

I am sure this happens in advanced economies via grants.

Dedicated allotments to different medical projects / needs ? Maybe those $300B are already allotted to various health issues in India.

When it comes to this argument, we can also look at the forex reserves we have. Could have used those as well.

Learn to get the difference between aid & credit bud.
Taking credit or not depends upon borrowers current financial asset that if particular institution finds it appropriate to commit payment right now or later.

These are conditional grants made for specific projects, which makes them akin to a loan, rather than "aid".

If a foreign country gives you aid for a vaccination project, you are expected to buy the vaccines from a pharma company from the donor country. In a way, the corporates in donor countries are lobbying their governments to round trip their tax payer's money via India and siphon it back to them in the name of aid. This keeps their order books ticking. It doesn't get added to our treasury and therefore cannot be included in the budget or used at will.

India gives more aid than it gets. Even this aid we give is based on the same "grant" model. It always benefits the donor country.

Now don't ask why India gives aid if it takes aid.

Statue provided employment to thousands of Indian builders - laborers and engineers and also adds to the portfolio of an Indian company. It will also bring in infrastructure and tourism money to an otherwise remote region. So it is certainly a part of development. I don't see any dichotomy here.

It has spawned plans to build other statues like Shivaji , ram statues etc . Also now Andhra Pradesh is planning a huge pillar above its assembly hall . Waste of money .

We already have lot of statues of useless politicians. Why not just one for Mr. Patel?

It could act as at least a counterpart & an attention baiting place, in future could be the part ot sceneries representing India.

Here, I agree.
