Government offers Rs 1 lakh for Goans joining armed forces

PANAJI: The Goa government has declared Rs 1 lakh as incentive to encourage Goan youth to join the Armed forces.

Officials said that the state government has formulated a monetary incentive scheme to making joining armed forces attractive. In the past several Goans were in the armed forces and one - Sunit Rodrigues - became the chief of Indian army long ago. But in the last few years, the number of Goan youth taking up the service, has come down drastically, source said.

Under the scheme Rs.1,00,000/- will be provided to the Goan youth who is commissioned in the armed forces through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as a permanent commissioned officer.

Similarly Rs.50,000/- will be given as incentive to the Goan youth who is commissioned in the armed forces through UPSC as short service commissioned officer and Rs.25,000/- to those who join in any rank below commissioned officer.

The official also stated that this scheme is also applicable to the Goan youth who is commissioned in the armed forces through NCC entry schemes.

1. It will instill discipline amongst the numbers who join and then, they in turn will influence their relatives and friends.

2. With more of the State's citizens joining the Central Service, it will make unemployment less in the State as there will be the vacancies in the State that they chaps may have taken if they were in the State looking for a job within the State.

why is it in Army their is no exact number of vaccancies, and can take any number of people selected or qualified mostly soldiers..??? in Officers may be same..

i thought the alcohol quota in army will bring in goan but that seems to be insufficient thats why money

Now Youths are not eligible in Requirement of Army selection ...such as Height and Eyesight and also ..most of the youth are drunken ande they have attempted a operation in Medical...

They are lack of Strength and Stamina..

Simply they want to sit in front of the computer and start Gaming or Browsing ..Not take care to carry some Kg's of Rifles and combat loads

Alcohol quota is a quota. quota means to a limit.Their salaries and income is also quota bound . Civilians and govt officials have no quota in alcohol and corrupt income and can purchase and consume four bottle in a night or may be more.

That is a good measure and incentive for recruitment as officer which is not bound by state quota. For recruitment in the lower rank, there is state quota which can not be exceeded or under-subscribed. However the incentive may go towards good quality of recruits coming forward.

that quota is damn high. every officer can not only be 24*7 tight but can also manage to gift the remaining stock.
