i think a dedicated gaming console will probably cost less than a high end PC for gaming.
Whatever you save up will be spent on games which will cost 5 time more than what they cost on PC.

Hi, I have a 4 years old laptop with Intel C2D processor, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, and 512 MB Nvidia Geforce 105M GPU. Has anyone played Skyrim or Deus Ex-Human revolution on a similar config? I just want to get a crude idea of performance before going for those games. Thanks
Skyrim will run on low-mid(play windowed mode for enhanced performance), haven't played deus ex so can't comment.

Took me a lot of effort to assemble this baby. But it will probably match a mid level Alienware in performance, @ half the price.
Ps, it is over 15-18 months old now.

Dude, you'll run Skyrim vanilla on medium without stutter as long as you don't load up on mods.

I am looking to a similar type of upgrade, how much does this cost you minus the case.

Its not fault of your system, the developers are purposely marginalizing pc gaming industry for console gaming, same problem with DA Inquisition, they haven't yet released GTA 5 for PC.

Local price is a bit less (by 150-200). This is the price from Flipkart

AMD 3.5 AM3+ FX 6-Core Black Edition FX-6300 = 7555
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P Motherboard = 5950
2x4GB G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 1600Mhz = 6000

There is no on-board GPU in this MoBo or instruction set in the CPU. So make sure you use a dedicated GPU. A Radeon R7 260 with 2GB memory should fit in nicely (8k-14k range).

Am not planning to OC right away. If you do, then make sure you have an after-market cooler to replace the stock CPU heatsink. I would suggest 'Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO'.

Yeah, you need that for an AMD system, i already have 4 fans on my case, yet it gets very hot in there during summer. I'll be moving towards intel though.
