Why resume talks? What changed on the ground? Nothing.

Perhaps 'Barak' asked Modi to start talking.
The Paki media is certainly spinning things that way and certainly Indian media will soon follow.

Also heard Modi called sharif today before the world cup, spoke about "bond through cricket."

Makes no sense. What has changed since then? They still talk about "settling kashmir" before anything else.

OTOH, this could be a general SAARC type thing:

So in one way, this is not really Pak specific.

SAARC is just a Garb is it seems. Sending Jaishankar to only Pak would pose a lot of question. So it played like that. Jaishankar isn't going to meet all foreign secretaries in Pakistan. He will travel to all countries individually it seems.

Maybe they finally reached some kind of agreement on the issue.
Pakistan is our land and we will do every thing to get it back.

Well it looks like told you so moment from left is coming soon

IF Modi gov changes its policy of not taking to Pakistan till terrorism is stooped...

Can have eggs on their faces in debates if any talks are started without any conenrete changes on gorunds

Again repeating mistakes of AVB times :frusty:

Obviously America is putting pressure on.both sides. In Delhi, Obama urged Modi to resume talks with Pakistan and yesterday he called NS for a second time in four weeks. During the 30 min conversation, Shareef was briefed about the India visit and urged to resume dialogue.

If this happens, Modi will loose face and credibility and it will be a big blow for his foreign policy.

He might as well save the time and money and cancel the trip. The answer is 'no'.

Heseena maan jae gi... aaj nahin to kaal...
Pakistan does not have the political clout to stop India joining the UNSC but she will never support the resolution and let the majority decide India's fate.

Japan, Germany and Brazil have our support...though Pakistan is one of the most vocal countries calling for a total reform of UN's security structure.

Majority is slowly falling into India's line...

If you look at the future prospect economic or otherwise India is the best bet... Japan & Germany not going to grow in future any more while Brazil is struggling to keep up the pace...

India has US' support so she doesn't need to worry. US bullied many countries to vote in favore of the controvercial Indo-US nuclear deal. UNSC seat can be achieved in same fashion.

UN is a political organisation, not a financial or monetary club for elites. If economic growth or output is the norm, then UK, France and Russia should be replaced.

UN has become disfunctional and the world is taken hostage to the neo-imperialistic policies of the P5. Instead of expanding the UNSC, a new body must be formed with regard to the demographic, economic and religious representaion en equal powersharing sans veto.

Was Modi having constipation without talking to Pakistan ? Retard move.

Even if it is to dominate the narrative vis a vis mobilizing relationship with SAARC nation, India could have just done well without Pakistan. Pakistan would have ultimately fell in line under pressure from other member nations especially Afghanistan who now have got couple of chips the fix Pakistan following Peshawar attack.

There is a greater chance that Jaishankar is going to PAK to discuss TAPI pipeline rather than because of peace talks or UNSC seat. I believe they are targeting completion date of 2018/19 .

Agreed. Points are valid before petrol shortage and conversion of their power plants to CNG in Bakiland . Now the TAPI pipeline's CNG is supposed to be distributed between af pak and ind.

The reasons for my speculation is because our minister Dharmendra Pradhan met Nawaz sharif yesterday and there is a TAPI meeting going on in Islamabad right now.

Jaishankar should wear a real "10 Lakh Suit" to save himself in Pakistan.
