Vietnam Railways is also potentially linked to the railway network of Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia to Singapore and Laos when the railway was developed.

Vietnam Railways is using three kinds of gauge, which is 1000 mm sugars, sugar standard (1435 mm)(standard gauge) and integrated (whole 1,435 mm and 1,000 mm)(mixed gauge).

Vietnam Railway using two blocks of concrete sleepers, wooden sleepers and iron. Type ray 43 kg / m is used on most networks and use of hard links between the rails and sleepers. Recently a number of links used elastic tests on a number of stages.

    Bridges and culverts

Having all 1,790 railway bridge with a length of 45,368 meters and 31 for common rail – road 11,753 feet long, while the total length of bridges on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City is 36,056 meters, account for 63% of the total length of the railway bridge.

There are 180 temporary steel girder length 18,084 meters, accounting for 31% of the total length of railway bridges. The total length of 13,274 meters of concrete bridge which is 9,179 meters on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh

There are 5,128 culverts with a length of 80,850 meters on the railway.

    Ham

    Signal systems

Closing system using electrical equipment close to tram / light colors to be installed on most of the northern railway line. Half-way closed system automatically installed on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh.

Regarding information systems, Vietnam railway loading machines use almost three 1-channel, 3 channels, 12 channels are manufactured in Hungary between 1972 and 1979. High frequency radio system used for emergency reserve system in some areas of the railway network.

Wire system is used more in long-distance transmission of information. Pair copper cables are used to signal local information.

Since 1998, the Corporation of Vietnam’s railway system of channels using the channel data transmission speed of 64 kbps leased by the Corporation and Telecommunications in the direction of Hanoi Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi – Da Nang to telephone and data transmission technology using Microband ATM (asynchronous transmission mode of microstrip).

    Historical development

History of the Vietnam Railway – one of the oldest industries of Vietnam from the first page opened in 1881 to start the construction of the first railway line Saigon – My Tho. After four years, the first train began to depart from Saigon to My Tho on 20/07/1885. In the period between 1882 and 1936 the main roads have been built by French technology on the type of pain directly traced 1m and has formed on the railway system.

During the war and until the reunification of Vietnam Railways were heavily damaged. After reunification, since in 1976 the Railway was mostly restored, especially the North-South Railway Unification. However, due to lack of capital to the full recovery is not feasible. After restructuring and move to market mechanisms in 1989, Vietnam Railways embarked on programs to restore and modernize the Railways for the railway to become a leading transportation in Vietnam, close contribute positively to economic growth of the country and integrate with the rail in Southeast Asia.
