It's an old game the West plays. America has been controlling the Western narrative for a long time now. They did the exact same thing with China and the "yellow" races in past. In contemporary media, the "Chinaman" was portrayed as dirty, smelly and rapists who would rape white women. America and Europe had very anti-east immigration policies when the West was still trying to colonise China. Fear of East Asia was whipped up in media to fuel public rage and justification. You might read up on Boxer Rebellion and the public hysteria that was whipped up by Western powers+Russia.

The same game is being played against India now.

As for Japan, another old trope of the "Noble Savage" comes into play. Japan was never a threat for the vast Western powers, especially USA. They were a much lesser threat than China, yet you'd see the same rhetoric against them in thelast 1800s. Japan, the tiny country, further weakened by strictly enforced isolation policy was not prepared for Westen gunships and canons and thereby had to roll over when Admiral Perry of USA rolled in with his infamous black ships in Tokyo Bay and held the capital to ransom. Japan simply rolled over and opened itself.

But, you can still see the lasting trauma and indignation even today. Notably, Japanese art started to portray their demons and stuff having western features...like a large nose of Tengus. Even today, one of the most popular tropes in Japanese films, anime is that of a monster/alien appearing from sea and threatening Tokyo. Heck, Godzilla is basically a Japanese fantasy of being able to protect Japan from USA.

The difference is that Chinese have converted themselves into Europeans and almost killed their culture. Indian culture is flourishing on other hand is spreads a lots of soft power. There is a book loosely based on the first contact of the Anglo-Dutch alliance with Japan - book title "Shogun". Author "James Clavell". published 40 or so years ago.

It is a 1000 pages but reading it one will get an idea of why there is little rape in Japanese society. It is also a very captivating read, and a very authentic introduction to Japan of that time.

I rarely read fiction or semi-fiction but had to recommend this one. There is a story that after Shogun was published, the ruler of some oil rich middle eastern country offered James Clavell a fabulous sum of money to write a similar book for his middle eastern country.

For those who do not have the time and inclination to read the book - through actions of the characters there is some discussion on sexuality and attitudes towards sex in Japan at that time. There is this local chief - "Omi San" - loves a girl who is also a prostitute. Wants to buy her freedom from the Madam but the Madam wants too much money.......

This is quite in contrast to what western propaganda did later on. They would frequently put out stories about Japanese men wanted to rape white women, and even said there was a rape epidemic in Japan and it was very very unsafe for western women (remember seeing some news clippings of this somewhere, cant recall).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not fly through Pakistan’s airspace en route Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan where he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit on June 13-14, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed Wednesday. Instead, his aircraft will travel via Oman, Iran and Central Asian countries.

In response to media queries regarding on the route he would take, spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, “The Government of India had explored two options for the route to be taken by the VVIP Aircraft to Bishkek. A decision has now been taken that the VVIP Aircraft will fly via Oman, Iran and Central Asian countries on the way to Bishkek.”

Eh. That's pretty much fiction. Japan and Far East cultures have been seen through a mystic lens by the west for far too long to provide any realistic approach.
