Pakistan High Commission 'lost' 23 Indian Passports Issued To Visit Kartarpur Corridor

  • Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has allegedly ‘lost’ 23 Indian passports of Indian nationals from Sikh community
  • Agencies fear that Pakistan could misuse these passports against India in the future.
In the first security scare ever since the Kartarpur groundbreaking, Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has allegedly ‘lost’ 23 Indian passports of Indian nationals from Sikh community who wanted to go on a pilgrimage.

Earlier Pakistan had issued 3800 visas to Sikh Pilgrims but lost 23 passports out of them.

Indian agencies are probing the matter but have asked Ministry of External Affairs to begin the process to cancel these passports immediately. Agencies fear that Pakistan could misuse these passports against India in the future.

Pakistan High Commission has earlier been blamed for not just espionage but also giving visa to few individuals from Jammu and Kashmir for terror training in Pakistan.

Finding itself in an ambivalent spot ever since its foundation, Kartarpur Corridor has drawn controversies within the country as well as across the border in Pakistan.

In a series of controversies, another one came from the Pakistan President, Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi, on December 3, who after a few days after Pakistan Foreign Minister's 'googly remark' against the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor, called this move a 'great chaal'

He said, "The way Mr. Sidhu has spoken about peace with Pakistan, I think this will raise many such voices for peace. This is a very good strategic move. If you know how to play chess, nowadays people don't play it, but if you know the game then there are chaals (strategies). Player analyzes opponent's next move and then decide his next chaal. Kartarpur was a great chaal."

On the contrary, Pakistan High Commission on Sunday, December 9 said it has issued visas to 139 Indian pilgrims to visit Katas Raj Dham, the famous Shiva temple, in the country’s Punjab province.

Under the framework of a bilateral protocol on visits to religious shrines, Sikh and Hindu pilgrims from India visit Pakistan every year. Pakistani pilgrims also visit India every year under the protocol. Pakistan’s High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood stated that the issuance of visas for yet another group of pilgrims from India was consistent with Government’s of Pakistan’s policy of promoting visits to religious shrines and was a reflection of its commitment to faithfully implement the 1974 Protocol, the High Commission said in a release.

Balochistan Woman Activist Hits Out At Pakistan For Gender Inequality

Hack:
  • A woman political activist from Balochistan hit out at Islamabad for allowing religious groups to launch an assault against women's freedom throughout Pakistan, especially in Balochistan
  • Karima Baloch, the former chairperson of Baloch Student's Organisation- Azad told the United Nations during the 39th session of the Human Rights Council.
A woman political activist from Balochistan hit out at Islamabad for allowing religious groups to launch an assault against women's freedom throughout Pakistan, especially in Balochistan. Karima Baloch, the former chairperson of Baloch Student's Organisation- Azad told the United Nations during the 39th session of the Human Rights Council.

''Pakistan has been ranked at the second-last place on the United Nations Gender Gap Report for the last two years. It is only ahead of Yemen and Syria. The country is standing at the 121st rank, out of 157 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index''.

Baloch further added '' Despite all the assurances to International human rights bodies, Pakistan's constitution clearly states that the country's law must conform with centuries-old Islamic doctrine.''

Speaking harshly on Islamic laws prevalent in the country, Karima elucidated,

''If a woman is killed by her brother in the name of honor, the Islamic law allows him to settle the case with the father or the rest of the family. In most of the cases, the family forgives the murderer who goes scot-free.

Also, as a testimony of two women is equal to one man, rape cases are less likely to be decided in favor of the victims. Apart from these basic flaws in the legal system, religious groups have launched an assault against the women's freedom throughout Pakistan, especially in Balochistan.

''Attacks and threats against girls' education have caused a significant surge in the number of girls dropping out of education. According to the media, the dropout rate is an appalling 70 percent. Because of this and other discriminations against women, Balochistan has the lowest female literacy rate in Pakistan, '' she said.

The activist further added the worsening situation of human rights in Balochistan;

''As a woman from Balochistan, I can testify that life of a woman in Pakistan is a tough one. If you get raped, there must be something wrong with you. If you get killed, you must have done something to deserve it. If you counter a man in a verbal argument, it reflects badly on your character.

If I am talking about the abuses and violence against women at this forum, I am bringing a bad name to Pakistan. But who cares!'' she asserted.

Rights of rivers

CAN a river have legal rights as, say, a human being? Why not, a Maori would say. Te Awa Tupua, New Zealand’s third largest river located in the North Island, was recognised as a legal entity in March 2017 by an act of parliament. This move came in response to a 140-year-old demand of the Whanganui tribe of the region which has traditionally treated the river as its ancestor. This in effect means that a close link between man and nature has been recognised and man’s obligations towards the river — his lifeline — acknowledged.

This is a unique concept which makes much sense. Within the span of a few weeks, an Indian court followed suit, and the Ganges and Jamna, sacred rivers of the Hindus, were also given legal rights. These initiatives have reinforced the personhood rights of rivers movement, which is rapidly gaining ground worldwide. It has significantly caught the attention of Pakistani environmentalists as well. I first heard of it the other day from Muhammad Ali Shah, the chairperson of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum, who spoke of this in his speech on dams at a meeting organised by the Irtiqa Institute of Social Sciences. Who else but the fisherfolk would be the first to ponder the implications of the savage abuse of rivers in Pakistan?

A few facts and figures quoted by Shah should be eye-openers. Of the thousands of rivers in the world, only 292 are defined as large — that is, they carry over 1,000 cubic kilometres water — but only 21 of them reach the sea. The remaining have been depleted by dams and mega irrigation projects.

The worst form of social injustice in Pakistan can be found in water distribution.

What about Pakistan? The Indus, the only river to reach the sea in the country, is in its death throes. Dams and canals are draining the waterway while garbage and solid waste are choking it. As a result, the sea is encroaching on the delta, strangling the mangroves and affecting the ecological health of the coastline and the river mouth. Pollution is another major enemy of the Indus and its tributaries.

And the dams? According to the International Commission on Large Dams, Pakistan has 150 dams of the height of at least 15 metres, including the world’s largest earth-filled dam (Tarbela). Yet we seem to be desperate for another one.

If the personhood rights of the Indus were to be accepted in principle, we would have to ensure that the river is not polluted, no more dams are built on it and water is drawn judiciously so that the river’s ecology is not damaged further or marine life decimated. Many lakes have also been affected by the pollution and depletion of river waters.

Pakistan is a water-scarce country, we are told, and our exploding population needs water to live. What is strange is that the many options available have not been explored seriously. There is no discourse on reservoirs to store the excess water that the heavy monsoon rains and the floods bring. There is no mention of conservation in agriculture (drip irrigation has never been tried on a large scale) and industry, or of the need to check the wasteful practices of the rich. And what about the leaking pipes which drain away as much as 30 per cent of the water in Pakistan’s largest city where the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board rules over the water kingdom. Muhammad Ali Shah’s was a lone voice that spoke strongly of conservation at the Irtiqa meeting.

The worst form of inequity and social injustice in the country can be found in water distribution. It is no wonder that the Supreme Court-mandated commission on water and sanitation in Sindh expressed its “serious resentment” on the “unfair” distribution of water in Karachi recently. Water theft, the operation of a tanker mafia and the prevalence of illegal water pumps are the sad story of Karachi’s water supply system. These illegalities are provided cover by allowing half of the 2,600 flow meters installed on the intervention of the Supreme Court to remain out of order. And who are the beneficiaries? Naturally, the rich and the privileged who can buy water at exorbitant prices to meet their needs, while the indigent continue to be denied even this basic necessity of life.

With the lack of availability of water is in itself the first major issue that has to be addressed, no one speaks about the quality of the water that is being supplied. It is not fit for drinking. As a result, water has become a commodity that is sold in the market and that has made many people wealthy. But there is no guarantee that bottled water is always safe for drinking.

The root of the problem lies at the source. Alas, rivers have no rights in Pakistan. But neither do the citizens, not on paper but in reality. This is certain though, when the rivers die, so will the citizens

No Rajdeep, there is no reason to thank Imran Khan for the homecoming of Hamid Ansari. Here is why
Ansari's extradition to India is being executed only after the Peshawar High Court set a two-month deadline for Pakistani authorities to deport Ansari to India

The controversial journalist, Rajdeep Sardesai, ‘fondly’ named the ‘Michelangelo of journalism’, known for his ‘illustrious’ journalistic career which accommodates various accomplishments ranging from his hypocrisy to his castist mentality, to his blatant lies has once again proved his worth.

This time Rajdeep Sardesai thanked the Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan for the release of Hamid Nehal Ansari, an Indian national, lodged in a Pakistani jail for six years on espionage charges.

What super news! Hamid Ansari, the Indian prisoner in Pak jail for straying into that country, is being released tomorrow.let not innocents be caught in Indo Pak crossfire! Next step: release all fishermen in each other’s jails! Thank you @ImranKhanPTI for listening to a mother!

— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) December 17, 2018

Ansari’s extradition to India is being executed only after the Peshawar High Court set a two-month deadline for Pakistani authorities to deport Ansari to India after his advocate filed an appeal in court saying the government had yet to take any measures to release Ansari even though his jail term was ending soon.

In fact, Ansari’s lawyer, Qazi Muhammad Anwar, had also informed the Pakistan court that the Pakistani government had claimed that the process to deport Ansari would take longer as the relevant documents were not ready, showing the lackadaisical attitude of the Pakistan authorities towards the innocent Indians in Pakistan’s captivity.

An engineer and business professional from Mumbai, Ansari had gone to Kabul, Afghanistan, on 4 November 2012, on a tourist visa for a job in aviation. He had entered Pakistan on 12 November using fake identification documents, to meet a woman from Kohat in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who had befriended him online and had been in Pakistan custody ever since.

Moreover, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Pakistan, Dr Mohammed Faisal, while sharing the news of Ansari’s deportation referred to him as “an Indian spy” involved in “anti-state crimes and forging documents”, though it had been proved earlier that Ansari was an innocent civilian who had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan, reportedly to meet a girl he had befriended online.

#HamidNehalAnsari, an Indian spy who had illegally entered Pakistan and was involved in anti-state crimes and forging documents, is being released upon completion of his sentence and is being repatriated to India.

— Dr Mohammad Faisal (@DrMFaisal) December 17, 2018

After the series of incidents unfolded, it is rather appalling that the sermoniser-in-chief, Rajdeep Sardesai was seen hailing the Pakistan Government for their efforts (which actually does not exist), towards the homecoming of Hamid Ansari, while it has been seen that the Pakistan court itself has criticised the Pakistani Government for delaying the entire issue.

However, after being pressurised by the court and castigated for the negligence, the Pakistan Government conveyed to its Indian counterpart that Ansari would be released and sent back to India on Tuesday.

Many alert Twitter users reacted strongly to Sardesai’s bias and reminded him about Pakistan’s bitterness towards India.

What rubbish ,court scolded government for keeping him for no reason as he already completed his 3 years of prison, which was sentenced. im % follow back (@Advice03431142) December 17, 2018

Sir ji
He is being released because of the intervention of Pakistani judiciary. If at all any one to be thanked it is Pakistani Judiciary and the Advocate who raised the matter in the Court

— Prabhat (@Kalisbp) December 17, 2018

Few also reminded Sardesai of the efforts the Indian Government have put in, in the deportation of the Indian national, which the so-called journalist par excellence conveniently forgot or rather chose to forget.

— ~Dare~ *Devil* (@rckk30330) December 18, 2018

Rajdeep Sardesai, the talented spin-master has been caught many times making such contentious remarks, spreading hate and lies in his sizeable thirty years of journalistic career.

We have earlier acknowledged the phenomenal achievements in the past thirty years of his contestable career. From his recent achievement of ‘stealing’ tweets to his compulsion of lying to his hypocrisy to the castist remarks, Rajdeep Sardesai has time and again proved himself to be a master of quackery.

Google पर ‘भिखारी’ सर्च करने पर क्यों आती है इमरान खान की फोटो?

By Ram Kishor -

Updated: Dec 18, 2018 17:39 pm IST

If someone is on PDF, try searching for the thread on the Dam buster capabilities of PAF, a recent thread on bursting dams in Indian Kashmir. Logic behind this :- India is building dams on Pakistan water and making Pakistan arid. Solution, burst the dams upstream few thousand metres above sea level. Genius.

Then we must make sure those dams are filled with water till top. Sudden flow will wash away entire punjab and sindh. It is better than doing ethnic cleansing. No blood on our hands.
