They used to say that quantity has a quality on its own. But the F-35 has both quantity and quality making it the true master of the 21st century skies.

Imagine almost 4,000 networked sensors and stealthy attack platforms scattered all over the World linked with themselves, with other air, land , sea and space assets and simultaneously sharing data. And these already overwhelming number of almost 4,000 F-35s is further bolstered by its ability to cooperatively control and direct drones and target other weapons from the air, land and sea. Not to mention that these almost 4,000 F-35s has some of the if not the most advanced EW suites. Now, that's a game changer.
4000? no.
It will be a commercial success, but not as huge.
Technically it's another thing.

How can Baba Bon Plan be wrong? :hail:

Oh, believe me even 3,000 is huge. Especially if you consider that France's much hyped, tired and old national bird the Rafale is barely ekking out 200 units. And what you do not grasp (or refuse to) is that the F-35 is more of a system than a stand-alone platform. It can control drones, target for other aircrafts, ships or land-based missiles and/or artilleries. So the multiplier effect that the F-35 brings to the battlefield is massive.

Anyway, nothing will come close to that number of F-35 orders among current 4.5th gen or upcoming 5th and 6th gen fighters. Canada will buy at least 88 F-35As and Singapore will buy 20+ F-35Bs. Spain soon will have to replace its Harriers and Australia might arm its new flat tops with F-35Bs while South Korea might follow Japan's lead in putting F-35Bs on its helicopter carriers. And if France turns into a pain in the bottom again like during the EF development then even Germany will buy the F-35.

Then 20 years from now expect the F-35 to be offered to some Middle Eastern US allies, and perhaps even India if it and the US can have an agreement.

Like how you fantasized that Belgium will accept free Rafales courtesy of the French government over the F-35?

As said some months ago, I don't think USAF will take all the 1700 intended.
There is too few (excellent) F22, and F35 is too limited in air to air role. Another beast will be released once the export back log full.

And as said, how to compare a plane made by and for a country 7th smaller than its counter part in US ?

Stand alone platform, control drones, target for other aircraft etc... some are already made today by Rafale, when not implemented on F35, and the rest will follow with F4.

With all the troubles around F35 developpment, just to expect the goose to be FOC before Rafale F4 ....

This is another prediction like Belgium will buy Rafale?

It's the capabilities my friend. Rafale was designed to fight the Cold War while F-35 is designed to dominate future wars.

F-35 can do ballistic missile sensing, act as sensor and targetting platform for other planes, ships and land based batteries in real time, and of course sneak on the enemy...

Ah, F-35 troubles. Listening from you it sounds like Lockheed, BAE, Northrop's, etc. Engineers are very stupid and you're the genius. And yet major air forces are buying F-35s like hot cakes while a lot more other air forces would like to buy them if only Uncle Sam will sell it to them. How much more if F-35 engineers fully iron out your favorite bugs? (Except that the bugs exist only in the heads of haters)

As for Rafale, well even if France is already essentially giving it for free to its neighbor it still got rejected in favor of the F-35! Only those who cannot buy the F-35 buys it! :pound:

My last news was its optical designator system was unable to follow a moving target. So for the rest....
Maybe in 2025.

Claims of ‘Game-Changing’ F-35 Data Fusion Debunked

http://www.defense-aerospace.com/articles-view/feature/5/197892/claims-of-‘game_changing’-f_35-data-fusion-debunked.html

"An online report lauding the data fusion of the Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter, and detailing the advantages it brings by reducing pilot workload, has exposed for the first time that the F-35’s claimed “game-changing” capabilities have, in fact, been in service for over a decade in European fighters."

How to create a false myth ....
