https://www.defensenews.com/smr/kad...35-improving-its-dogfighting-skills-in-japan/

It's incredible...

The famous stealthy groose NEED TO IMPROVE it's dog fight skill?

No one explained to this journalist that F35 is able to kill all ennemy without using dog fight?

They all said dog fight is over.... Maybe it was a fake news.... LOL

Exclusive: Pentagon stops accepting F-35 jets from Lockheed over...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Defense has stopped accepting most deliveries of F-35 jets from Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) because of a dispute over who will cover costs for fixing a production error found last year on more than 200 of the stealthy jets, three people familiar with the matter said.
Last year the Pentagon stopped accepting F-35s for 30 days after discovering corrosion where the carbon fiber exterior panels of the planes were fastened to the airframe. Once a fix had been devised, the deliveries resumed, and Lockheed hit its target aircraft delivery numbers for 2017.
Deliveries were paused again over a dispute as to who will pay for what will likely be a complex logistical fix that could require technicians to travel widely to mend aircraft based around the world, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
When the Pentagon stops taking delivery of F-35s, foreign customers can also be affected. So far at least two foreign governments have stopped accepting F-35s as a result of this issue, two of the sources said.
The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A Lockheed spokeswoman said on Wednesday: “Production on the F-35 program continues and we are confident we will meet our delivery target of 91 aircraft for 2018. While all work in our factories remains active, the F-35 Joint Program Office has temporarily suspended accepting aircraft until we reach an agreement on a contractual issue and we expect this to be resolved soon.”
It was not clear when the suspension of deliveries began.
Shares of Lockheed erased a 2.7 percent gain on the day after the news, and were trading flat at 3.32 p.m. (1932 GMT).
The delivery pause is the latest of several production issues that have arisen in the Pentagon’s most expensive weapons program, and comes at a time when the administration of President Donald Trump has criticized the cost of the fighter.
In 2016, a fix for insulation problems in the fuel tanks and lines of the jets caused a slowdown in deliveries.
Two jets were received by the Pentagon despite the suspension because of specific needs in the field, one of the people said.
During routine maintenance at Hill Air Force Base in Utah last year, the Air Force detected “corrosion exceeding technical limits” where the carbon fiber exterior panel is fastened to the aluminum airframe. A lack of protective coating at the fastening point that would have prevented corrosion was identified as the primary problem, the Pentagon said at the time.

F-35 update: the good, the bad and the unknown

https://www.aspistrategist.org.au/f-35-update-good-bad-unknown/

So far so good. The bad news is in two parts. First, those numbers are just budget placeholders, and don’t yet represent contracted figures. It’s not unusual for there to be a certain amount of argy-bargy between the government and contractors during price negotiations, but the public discourse between the Pentagon and Lockheed Martin is getting a little heated.

The F-35 program continues to offer a mix of promised advanced capability and disappointment. While there’s no real alternative for the 2020s (and probably for some time beyond), we’re still going to be flying Super Hornets until the Block 4 or 5 F-35s mature. And potential adversaries are working on closing the gap, so the F-35s’ slow development means that users will get less utility from the purchase than would have been the case had the jets been delivered close to the original schedule.
Don't have any hate to the jet, it's a good one, but It's funny that cost will escalate due to inflation, nobody can stop that. In fact the whole marketing idea of F35 to extend to Block 4 is to escalate cost and the natural reason would be inflation, resulting in buyer to eventually buy these assets in less numbers.

Besides a lot of the counties buying F35 are smaller countries who's military budget isn't worth an entire middle eastern country or some shit. Unfortunately F35 wont be a force multiplier because initially it was designed for USAF in mind (Oh... America) with american made jets to support it side by side. that's what a true force multiplier is.

F35 needs an F22 to compliment it's full capabilities. So far these countries either don't have the budget or assets to support F35.

This whole program is only worth for USAF!

F35 do it so well by itself !
For a first mass-produced 5th generation fighter jet in world F-35 is doing very well.

I'll see how others will be able to come close to its success. And this includes France also.

The F104 was a commercial success, due to USA stranglehold on NATO. But it wasn't a nice plane.

F35 was studied as a USAF complement of the intended huge F22 fleet, mainly for air to ground mission AND TO DESTROY ALL THE EUROPEAN AEROSPACE INDUSTRY.

The second goal was almost reached. But France and Dassault remain, and the other european country
are discovering the trickery...

Without dev. delays, F35 would have killed european initiative. But with the Fat stealthy Turkey delays, that revive european alternativ. Fortunately for us.

SEOUL, South Korea —
Despite the celebrated rollout of the first F-35 Lightning II fighter jet for the South Korean Air Force last month, the fifth-generation stealth aircraft is not widely welcomed by the Seoul government.

The contract of procuring 40 F-35As signed under the former Park Geun-hye administration has been under intensive investigation with regard to possible influence-peddling over the Lockheed Martin-built multirole fighter’s selection process and price lobbying.

The Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea, or BAI, has widened its probe against the F-35 selection from Seoul’s 2014 F-X III competition, according to defense sources.

The new F-35 US Air Force made an emergency

Fifth generation fighter F-35 US Air Force made an emergency landing on Tuesday in southwest Japan. This was reported by the agency Kyodo.

It is noted that the newest invisible fighter made an emergency landing on the basis of the Air Self-Defense Forces of Japan in Fukuoka Prefecture. Information about the victims as a result of the incident or damage to the aircraft was not received.

In Japan, recently, small accidents have become more frequent, which cause serious concern among the local population. Often they are related to the US Air Force equipment deployed on Japanese territory, but there are incidents with the aircraft of the Self-Defense Forces of the country.

Why the F-35 Isn’t Good Enough for Japan

While the F-35 retains some radar evading capabilities, its radar cross section is over ten times greater than that of the F-22 making it far less survivable — leading some analysts to term it a “pseudo stealthy” fighter.
The F-35 has less than half the range of the larger F-22 .
As a single engine light platform with a small arsenal of just four air-to-air missiles, restricted to a below average speed of Mach 1.6 and a very low altitude relative to the Raptor, the F-15J, and elite twin engine Chinese fighters, the F-35 hardly presents an adequate solution to counter China’s growing fleet of J-11 fighters — let alone more advanced platforms more recently deployed by Beijing such as the Su-35 or J-20. Indeed, it was never designed for such an air superiority role.

U.S. military officials and numerous think tanks have repeatedly stressed that the F-35 is not an air superiority platform and cannot replace the F-15. Former Air Force chief of staff General Mark Welsh stated that the F-35 “was never designed to be the next dog fighting machine. It was designed to be the multipurpose, data-integration platform that could do all kinds of things in the air-to-ground arena including dismantle enemy, integrated, air defenses. It had an air-to-air capability, but it was not intended to be an air-superiority fighter.

Says the guy peddling a Rafale that had it's ass hand to it by F-4s and MKIs.

Only a douche thinks a 'gen classification' or modernity of an aircraft determines how it performs in a dogfight.

The F-35 is perfectly fine for all type of countries including Israel, Japan, S.K, Italy, Spain, Australia, Norway, Britain. It is finally a tool and it's success depends on sound military strategy and constant evolution of tactics. These countries have ordered them, some will order more and some have cut orders. This doesn't have any impact on the programs future. It's like saying the Tejas is a failure when the aircraft hasn't even gotten it's FOC yet.

Unlike other programs, the F-35 is quite a transparent program, there are issues and there is plan to fix these by FOC and Block 4 will ensure it is one of the most advanced fighter with leaps in tech. Again, it is also perhaps the largest program of it's size, so people or countries who have never made anything revolutionary of this scale, need to chill and keep their pieshole on ice.

When FOC achieved the Block 4 F-35 will have AESA with GaN, Stealth, Large Panel Display, new age helmets, upgraded DAS, upgraded EOTs, and uprated engines. Combine that with evolving tactics from various professional AFs like Israelis one ends up with an aircraft which will be at the top of it's game for a long time. To think that a project of program of this scale will be allowed to fail is silly.

1) to have a hand to its ass one time doesn't mean you will have it always.... Even F15 sometime lose against F5 ... fortunately the pilot skill is usefull....

2) sent your answer to this newspaper. It's not from me my dear.

The J-20 is junk with wings, The F-35 will pick up it's engine smoke from the ground let alone in the air.

Some doesn't think like you....

Even some US top brass say that it is not made for air superiority : "It had an air-to-air capability, but it was not intended to be an air-superiority fighter."

US has F22,
UK, Italy, Spain has EF,
Japan has a big fleet of F15 and are studying a new plane.
Israel has a lot of F15 and are intended to buy some more.
for the others.... they will never be in front line alone. Or they will be defeat.
