Far far away.. lol. You have zero knowledge and yet act like expert on defense issues.

On your 737 jibe, 787 was also grounded in 2012. Today, it is selling like hot cake.
It's just a fact : F35MAX is only IOC fourteen years after first preserial flight ! No need to be a fake high engineer like you to understand some things were wrong.
How many standards for just an IOC bird?
The LM answer is always the same : next standard will solve all....

Germany to Order 45 Fighter Jets From Boeing, Report Says
Germany will order 45 fighter aircraft from Boeing Co. to replace the Luftwaffe’s aging Tornado jets, Der Spiegel magazine reported on Sunday.

Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer emailed her U.S. counterpart Mark Esper on Thursday to inform him of the decision, the magazine said, without identifying the source of its information. Germany will order 30 F/A-18 Super Hornets and 15 EA-18G Growlers, the report added.

The German ministry couldn’t immediately be reached outside regular business hours. The Pentagon in Washington declined to comment.

“While we continue to await an official announcement, we remain committed to working in support of both the German and U.S. governments on this important procurement,” a spokesman for Chicago-based Boeing wrote in an email. A combination of Hornets and Growlers “is ideally suited to meet Germany’s strike fighter and electronic warfare aircraft requirements.”

Kramp-Karrenbauer’s actions may upset the Social Democrats, the junior partners in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling coalition, as she didn’t inform them before making her decision, Der Spiegel said.

Kramp-Karrenbauer’s predecessor, Ursula von der Leyen, had offered a compromise to the SPD under which Germany would buy a combination of U.S. fighters and the Eurofighter Typhoon manufactured by Airbus SE, according to Der Spiegel.

A political, not a military choice. The Luftwaffe wanted F-35, for good reason. But German politicians silenced them.
Having a bunch of women politicians controlling your country's destiny only works if they are in the same mould as Thatcher, Indira or Golda Meir (even though they had their flaws)

It's quite the reverse today, which is why the German military that almost defeated all of Europe, now couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag .

Germany Informs US Regarding Purchase of 45 Boeing Fighters
German Defense Minister has Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer reportedly informed Mark Esper, US Secretary of Defense, regarding its plan to acquire 30 F/A-18 Super Hornets and 15 EA-18G Growlers for Luftwaffe.
The German minister emailed her US counterpart informing him of its decision on Thursday, Der Spiegel magazine reported on April 19.

“While we continue to await an official announcement, we remain committed to working in support of both the German and U.S. governments on this important procurement,” a spokesman for Chicago-based Boeing said to Bloomberg via email.

Ursula von der Leyen, Kramp-Karrenbauer’s predecessor had proposed to buy a combination of US fighters and Airbus-built Eurofighter Typhoon jets.

Plans to buy 45 Boeing aircraft and 90 Eurofighter jets replace Luftwaffe’s ageing Tornados were first revealed by German publication Handelsblatt in November 2019.

The fighters are to enter the German Air Force from 2025 and last till 2040 after which the air force combat requirement would be met by the Franco-German Future Combat Air System (FCAS) sixth generation jet.
While the F/A-18 was selected because it can carry nuclear bombs, Growlers were chosen for their electronic attack capability, the Handelsblatt report said.

Airbus has been lobbying hard for Germany to buy the Eurofighter. It has even commenced a program to test armaments and systems which would go into the future FCAS. One of which is the Eurofighter Electronic Combat Role (ECR) revealed in November last year.

Initial Eurofighter ECR capability is expected to be available by 2026, followed by further development steps and full integration into the FCAS ecosystems. The Eurofighter ECR offers electronic attack (EA) and suppression/destruction of enemy air defence (SEAD/DEAD).

As an advantage over the US-made Boeing FA-18 ‘Growler’, Airbus says the latest national escort jammer technology will ensure national control over features such as mission data and data analysis.

We shouldn't compare what's good for USN, Rafale is not good for them either.
It's why Rafale smash SH18 in all air to air training. F18A was slightly more coriace. SH18 is a more modern Tornado.

all weapons deal is political.
Nope. Otherwise, rafale should have been the last choice for India versus it's competitors.

And we did follow politics the last generation, buying a weird mix of migs instead of standardising on mirages. Even though they were far more expensive, instead of just 60 mirages and 300 plus mig 23/27 variants we could and should have chosen to standardise on say 180- 200 mirages instead. Imagine how different the IAF would look today.

We have the same decision today. Standardise on 4-5 squadrons of rafale for the Air force high-end, standardise on the same excellent plane for navy, or end up once again with a zoo full of aircraft types because of "politics"

The reason German didn't go with f35 is be because that would have pissed off France as Germany is collaborating with them for the 6th gen fighter. I think it's probably a good choice, it's block 3 version is probably going to be on par with eurofighter.

The Rafale choice is political also, as France is, with Russia, the closest ally of India.
India never forget the french assistance for Kargil, as a no ban for nuclear trials.
And India has the largest experience (excpt French air force) with the Dassault products. They know the french jets are efficient, very versatile, with high servicability. A perfect complement to russian harsh products.

I meant the USN doesn't give two shits about the Rafale, if it had two fucks to give, it would give them out to the SH and F-35. Rafale is already proving itself to be a hanger queen. USN only uses workhorses.
