PTI China’s official media today warned India against using the Dalai Lama “card”, saying New Delhi should stop behaving like a “spoilt kid” and learn lessons from how China handled Donald Trump after the US President-elect challenged ‘One-China’ policy.

“Sometimes, India behaves like a spoilt kid, carried away by the lofty crown of being ‘the biggest democracy in the world.’ India has the potential to be a great nation, but the country’s vision is shortsighted,” an article in the state-run Global Times said.

It said India “should draw some lessons from the recent interactions between Beijing and Trump over Taiwan.”

“After putting out feelers to test China’s determination to protect its essential interests, Trump has met China’s restrained but pertinent countermeasures, and must have understood that China’s bottom line – sovereign integrity and national unity – is untouchable,” the paper said.

While the article did not elaborate on counter measures, China besides protesting to Mr Trump over his phone call to the Taiwanese President and his comments questioning One-China policy, also seized an “unmanned underwater vehicle” in the disputed South China Sea, the first such incident in the area.

The drone was returned subsequently after protests from US and Mr Trump, an incident seen as an attempt by China to flex its muscles ahead of the President-elect taking over office next month.

The drone operated by a US survey vessel in the South China Sea was seized by a Chinese navy ship.

“Even the US would have to think twice before it messes with China on such sensitive problems, so what makes India so confident that it could manage?,” the article sounding strident in it tone and tenor said, referring to India going to Mongolia’s assistance by granting USD one billion aid after Beijing imposed a blockade in retaliation to Ulaanbaatar hosting Dalai Lama last month despite China protests.

The Mongolian Ambassador to India had sought New Delhi’s help to overcome China’s counter measures. However, the Mongolian government has given in and pledged that it will never invite Dalai Lama again.

When China used infiltrate in India territory in the the time of Manmohan and our foreign department used to do Mujara in front of chinese, I always maintained that Our weakness in not our military inferiority but our weak government like it happened to be in the time of Naheru. Modi came in and you can witness the difference. He [keep your language clean - MOD] CPEC totally. He demolished string of pearls by his act east diplomacy and he is screwing china where ever he gets a chance to do that starting from South china sea to bay of Bengal, Srilanka, Pakistan to extending up to Africa. What we can do can not be done by US. We can give world a substitute of china and fill the gap caused by exit or absence of china China is expanding its sphere of influence among the poor countries. It is very much likely that they may fall in chinese trap. China may bribe their leaders like they do in Pakistan. US can not stop china. If any country can do that, it is India. We can help these countries in sectors like science and technology, education, rural economy , skill development, defense and building up of Dams, steel plants and refineries. If we engage full fledged, they will not need china any more. Though that would require a huge amount of money but Modi is a master of money management and accomplish a lots of task with limited resources.

Its very simple, [keep your language clean - MOD]
If you can't swallow what you serve then don't serve it at all.

In the recent years we have seen the cheenis having difficulty coming to terms with the reality that we will in fact grow very fast and that India is going to challenge them at some point.
They expected us to never learn from our mistakes and remain in the clutter of our past but as these very things get resolved and the cheenis are forced to see us as a future competitor you see such response as the OP where the cheenis thrash around at the sight of their disintegrating superiority complex.

We have already started containing them, but it is a process.
5-10 years from now, you will see how condescending news like these will automatically decrease in frequency, in fact this is nothing compared to what the chinis used to say about us back in the 90s.

All we need to do is concentrate on bettering ourselves and not cower in the Asian arena, chines will back down slowly and we will eventually reach an understanding in the future that guarantees them being f**ked if they try something premature & ungainly.

They are not as stupid asthe Pakis, they'll stop when they realize a strategy doesn't work; eg, they never engaged us in a full scale war after 62 and realized they won't stand a chance when we are ready i.e. in 67 where they got their ass handed to them.
The pakis however won't stop jerking off their egos if they have to "eat grass" to maintain their belligerent posture.

Chinese are jumping too much on their recent economic boom which is based on EXPORTS.

Basically India should offer all what Chinese are doing plus make friends with enemies of China and not to mention keep increasing military capabilities + better relations with US and milk them against China.

Under this govt many things are happening so let's see.

Why Chinese are so scared and anxious.

They should stop eating noodles made of all purpose flour and add more foods that has Low Glysemic Index. Not only it will reduce their anxieties but constipation.

As of October 2016, PRC owned $1,115.7 billion worth of US Treasury bonds.
US GDP for 2015 was $17,947.0 billion.

So, PRC has 6% of the US GDP in terms of Treasury Bonds. Even if PRC offloads a third of its total US Treasury holdings, it will have a major impact on the US economy.

So, yes, PRC can afford to make a lot of noise (‘Even US Would Think Twice Before Messing With Us’).

The US can survive an economic warfare with PRC, but the US government needs to convince the people of the US to prepare for tough times. It is not very difficult, if import substitution is done gradually, thereby, re-developing the production and consumption chain within the US with limited dependency on the outside world.

That will never happen. The US government is so overrun by K-street lobbies that it can never effect a change that hits corporate America's bottomlines hard.

Can't say it will never happen, but yes, it is probably very unlikely, and you are correct, corporate lobbies have a stranglehold on the US government.

Being scared is the last thing in the mind of a country with an economy nearly 5 times bigger and a military budget as big as the total Indian budget and nuclear bombs nearly 100 times stronger than ours.

Chinese threat is real and potent and we should not play with fire until and unless we are sufficiently strong.

Unlike China,India is a very poor import dependent country with serious social conditions.India does not even have enough funds to provide for it's people and has been running on a deficit budget since independence.

The Chinese have a history of instigating rebellion in the North East and have been accused of sponsoring the Maoists.

So until and unless we are internally very strong we should not dream of fighting China.

China is a flimsy country. Loot how it get rattled with small events such as Dalai lama meeting our president or visiting Mongolia. China's whole aura is based on fear they have created inside and outside their country. When they feel that people will stop fearing them, they get rattled and starts issuing warning to restore that fear. We by way of our behavior prove that we do not care about chinese warning and their warning are hollow. That will ridicule them in front of whole world and they will learn to contain them self to stop further insult. Our behavior shall give some daring to other nation who fears china.

Had I been in power, I will get a non official statement issued by some important person saying that reaction of china to such small events do not match its international status. No big power gets rattled by such small events and react so immaturely. This proves that china is not an world power but like a small insignificant country for whom meeting of a religious leader to the president of India is a major event. China should learn to behave according to its status in international arena. This sort of statement shall humiliate them in front of international community.

Why so serious brother ? My post was never made to invite such a serious response.

Do you think what you have said is not known to this forum ?

This is the first time I agree with @CrYsIs...

It is always good to be internally strong...

Necessary steps are taken to curb the issues, but it takes time to get things sorted...

Mere confrontation is all we are doing now...

I feel that this is a mirrored response for Hambantota port. We just showed them that, if you try to enter our backyard (IOR through Lanka) we'll enter into your backyard with full force(If India could get into Taiwan, it will definitely attract CIA, Japs... Everyone who is upset with China)

China knows this and that's why they issued statement "Even US would think twice"

This is a mere speculation

Beijing Will Fine GM’s China Venture $29 Million for Monopolistic Pricing
Updated: Dec 23, 2016 9:50 PM

China will fine U.S. automaker General Motors Co's joint venture 201 million yuan ($29 million) for monopolistic pricing, state television reported on Friday, ending speculation after an official warned of penalties against a U.S. carmaker.

Shanghai's pricing regulator said it would fine GM's venture with China's largest automaker SAIC Motor for setting minimum prices on certain Cadillac, Chevy and Buick models, according to China Central Television.

"GM fully respects local laws and regulations wherever we operate," the U.S. automaker said in an emailed statement. "We will provide full support to our joint venture in China to ensure that all responsive and appropriate actions are taken with respect to this matter."

SAIC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The fine follows comments by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump questioning the "One China" policy and his naming of Peter Navarro, a hardliner on trade with China, as a trade adviser, although there is no evidence that the penalty is a form of retaliation.

An official at the National Development Reform Commission on Dec. 14 told state-owned China Daily that the commission would fine a U.S. automaker for monopolistic behavior, sending GM (GM, 0.00%) and Ford Motor (F, +0.48%) shares skidding.

Auto industry sources have told Reuters the investigation was already underway before Trump's recent comments, although it has raised fears that China could be seizing on the case to send a shot across the bow of the incoming U.S. administration.

The penalty is the latest against automakers after the commission began investigations in 2011, with Audi , Daimler's Mercedes-Benz, Toyota Motor, and one of Nissan Motor's joint ventures previously being targeted.

This country isn't just facing India only, they are facing US and their neighbors.

Obviously, India holds a substantial position and India leaving the game will obviously be good relief.
with an economy nearly 5 times bigger and
Catching up & again, we haven't to do it alone.
a military budget as big as the total Indian budget
Typical @CrYsIs once again Factually incorrect. China's official defence budget doesn't exceed $200 billions and >$300 billions by others estimates. Indian budget stands around $600 billions.
and nuclear bombs nearly 100 times stronger than ours.
Better to say, "tested bombs 100 times stronger than ours".
India has demonstrated a lot of technologies through civilian sectors.
There is a very good reason that India is a part of ITER project, it surely must have something.
Chinese threat is real and potent and we should not play with fire until and unless we are sufficiently strong.
You can't just sit study if someone shows gun to you. We aren't that strong but enough at least to protect ourselves. Most important, improving and catching up every year.
Unlike China,
Le'me inform you China too is a developing country, may be at lesser threshold, I can found you out similar forms of socio economic problems which you complaint.
India is a very poor import dependent country with serious social conditions.
Compare Indian ranking 10 years ago, today and 10 years projected further.

Below world average but at least India doesn't deserve the "very poor" stereotype ranking around 120 against past's 160.
India does not even have enough funds to provide for it's people
Depends for what? Just waitin for HDR report 2016.:)
and has been running on a deficit budget since independence.
Depleted after 90s.
So until and unless we are internally very strong we should not dream of fighting China.
India of 2016 holds a far more stronger position in world than India of 1960s.
BTW, who's going to fighting with China man? At first, whom China is going to fight?
This entire victimization drive is just by CCP for getting sympathy of Chinese people. But China suddenly removes bavk weapons after deploying and they will also release US UUV soon. Cuz it's victimization, not war in Beijing's interests.

For India, India's border disputes are relatively small. India just needs to draw interests from China's adversaries as much as it can plus use them as shield.

But in case of full scale war, India must not and won't involve. A war between US & China can further help India to emerge as a stronger entity if it doesn't spoil it's economy by involving.

This war is less likely, if it is to happen none from Asia can escape the clutches of war...

Especially Japs, SK, Vietnam, Philippines and don't forget India
"remember LEMoA agreement"..... It is framed keeping China in mind...

There are equally chances of turning into WW3
